I'm particularly interested in yours as my wife and I are hoping to purchase land on the fraser coast. Due to financial constraints we won't have quite as much room as you unfortunately, as we'd love 40+ acres. We're looking at 5+ acres. I was wondering if you could provide more details on your 'cottage' and comment on your experience with the council with regards to living in it? Again due to financial constraints we are looking at a livable shed to start with so we can secure the largest block of land we can afford. Thanks Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 112Mar 27, 2015 9:43 am Wow it's really coming along now. Are you happy with your room sizes? still probably a little hard to tell with only just the frames. Thanks Hi Felix, Happy you like my thread Where are you coming from to the Fraser Coast? We live here in Hervey Bay for about 6 years now. When we started to look for a larger property, we realized that there is not much difference between 5 or 10 or more acres. Of course you pay more when you go for 100 acres but ours is 35 acres and we paid pretty much the same money for it as we would pay for 5 acres. We are 30 minutes drive to Hervey Bay CBD, got ADSL2+ (which was the most important as we work from home), town water and power so all good, and have the lifestyle we love We know quite few people around Hervey Bay, who lived or live in a shed or in a caravan while building the house, even on this forum, you will find plenty when you ask. Its a great way to save some money You can send me a PM if you need any more information or have any questions about the Fraser Coast area. I'm happy to help. What areas are you looking at to buy the land?? Be careful, in case you want the ADSL2+ as some areas which are closer to Hervey Bay than ours, don't have it. Are you happy with your room sizes? still probably a little hard to tell with only just the frames. Yes MnT its starting to take shape now. They are working on the roof at the moment We were thinking that our bedroom could be a bit bigger but there was no budget for a larger house and we preferred to have larger living space which we love so all good. The walk in robe looks huge though which is most important for me Our kids are also out of the house already, so for just two of us, plenty of space in the house Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 115Mar 27, 2015 10:35 am That's good that you are happy with the room sizes, you never really know what you are getting until it starts coming together. I wouldn't worry about the master bedroom size, we also went slightly smaller to make for a bigger robe which I think is more important. We decided we wouldn't need a tallboy or similar if the robe is big enough. Looking forward to some roof photos. Where abouts are you looking? We are building about 10 mins drive from Hervey Bay on 2400 sq m. We've moved from a 500 sq m block on the Sunshine Coast so it feels huge for us! Can't help you with your questions but wish you all the best. Look forward to following your build. Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner - Frame Finished 119Apr 01, 2015 6:36 pm The frame work is finished. The gutters and fascias are on. We were supposed to get the windows and roof done this week but the rain stopped them. We are supposed to get more rain so it looks like not much will happen this week. Anyway we are happy with the progress so far Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Live Love Lough Building thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=74918 Building blog: http://uniquebyeva.com.au/ourhome/ Our food forest blog: http://www.foodforestcookery.com Re: Our Acreage Home with GJ Gardner 120Apr 01, 2015 6:40 pm That's great progress! You're not far behind us. We're just waiting on a guy from council to inspect the frame & then the brickwork will start. 1 4519 May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner?
