Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 225Sep 24, 2015 12:55 am Well I have been MIA because I have been soooo busy preparing to move 2000kms I don't like moving, it's too hard Anyway, tiling started a couple of weeks ago. This is how the laundry was looking 10 days ago. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ When I saw those tiles I thought they looked awful I wondered how I chose such awful coloured tiles? But then a few days ago I got another photo of the tiles with the grout and they look sooo much better!!!!!!!!! This is going to drive me nuts but I'm trying to 'get over it'?! My husband is being awesome about it and telling me it doesn't matter even though I think it looks ridiculous I do wish my CLO had noticed this or mentioned it to me because I just always thought the sinks would be centred to the cabinet doors? If you haven't built yet, make sure you double check sink placement if you extend your benchtop? Oh well, if this is the worst that's happened, I should be grateful! I've read some awful building stories on here and my builders have been great so far. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Well we are at week 30 and NONE of my main living tiles have been laid yet I think this is what has delayed my build - the tile shop was out of stock of my main floor tiles???? I haven't spoken to anyone yet but I will be asking when I finally meet my building supervisor if this was the case! There are no floor tiles on site so it must be?! There is actually still a lot of work to do - main living room floor tiles, electrics - lights and power switches, oven, cooktops, carpets and paving. Not sure what else but these are what I've noticed in photos? They are way past the 24 week building timeframe estimate but my house is huge compared to most of their builds. We are currently at 30 weeks I'm hoping they pick up the speed and surprise me with how fast they suddenly start moving? We made a huge decision last week! My kids and husband and I all had a vomiting bug and the Removalists phoned and asked on tuesday if we could move that Saturday morning?!?! We were all really sick but they couldn't move us for another 5 weeks as they had suddenly booked themselves out? My sisters wedding is in Perth in early October so we decided instead of going to the wedding and then coming home and waiting for the Removalists to pick our things up, we would move early and put our things in storage. So we said yes to the Removalists and they picked up our things 4 days later What was I thinking???? It has been manic here! We had uplift 5 days ago. We leave our town in 4 days so this week has been farewell parties, dinners and play dates. We have rented a nice beach house in Perth for 6 days and then we are staying in different places until we get keys? We will be moving to our new town in the South West of WA on the 10th October and be staying at a friends unit. I can't wait Fingers crossed Celebrations can pick up the speed and move things along. I am also paying a painter to seal the house when we get keys so we can't be inside for at least 7 days. That means we either have to stay with a friend or rent a place for longer and pay more for longer storage for our items. This build has cost us a small fortune because of moving so far and going over the building time frame! Fingers crossed everything works out and this coming month is full of fun adventures Ohhhhh and sleep! Sleep would be good too Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 226Sep 24, 2015 7:44 am Wow JMCL I love your feature tile they've done a really neat job on all your tiling haven't they? How exciting to be moving sooner than expected too! Regarding the automatic moving of things when you extend benches etc - I've had similar. In our scullery is a cabinet that was meant to go up to the doorframe and now don't. This was where they'd wrongly sized the door and when we pointed it out, the cabinet stayed the same size and we didn't pick up on it Also I had to pay a variation to get the basin in the ensuite centred over the cabinets. I thought what we'd asked for made perfect sense, but it obviously didn't Oh well, I'm sure in every house there will be some things you'll look back on and wish you'd caught! Your bathrooms look beautiful - and I had to look to see what you meant by it anyway, so it's only because you're aware of it now. And you'll soon get used to it and it won't bother you anymore! Looking forward to seeing moved in pics next Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 227Sep 24, 2015 8:23 am Wow what a few weeks you have had. No wonder everyone was manic. Well done packing everything. Parties and play dates would have been sad. Thats one thing im not looking forward to. Saying good bye to everyone and everything we know Argh!!! Anyway everything is looking smashing. The grout def makes a difference. Love the double shower. I dont mind the basins off centre it gives u more bench space either side. And like u said if thats the only thing then i thing that has gone wrong u have done extremely well. Especially considering u r living so far away from ur build. Cant wait to see ur next stage. So excited for u. Since its been a few weeks I'm starting to 'get over it' now! I was actually at the house when they were putting the shower screens in and the man putting them in said he had the same sized cupboards and put the sinks in the same way as us - 3 equal sides around the sinks instead of centring to the cupboards. He made me feel better but I think it still looks overall better being centred? Thanks for you're positive words, you are always so kind and positive Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 229Oct 19, 2015 10:12 pm livpal5 Wow what a few weeks you have had. Oh livpal5 I've been off the forum for a few weeks now so I'm not sure where you're up to with your build but if you haven't moved interstate yet I hope you have a wonderful few weeks saying goodbye. It is soooo sad but I really hope you enjoy creating those last few weeks of memories together! Thanks for all the kind words about my tiles - I can't believe how terrible tiles look without grout! That look SOOOO much better with grout! I'll have to check out where you're up to with your build, I know it will be exciting whatever stage it is up to Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 230Oct 19, 2015 10:28 pm Well, where do I begin? He's absolutely right too and I'm glad it isn't giving you headaches. Your house is looking so lovely! Are those 60cm tiles? Even without the grout it looks great. You have such an amazing kitchen - it is huge!! Re the wine fridge and storage.... unfortunately that would be a complete waste for us - wine never last long enough to be stored hehe Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 233Oct 20, 2015 9:19 am How exciting!!! Looks fabulous JMCL! The kitchen looks amazing! I'll be upgrading the hot water too (four kids does that to you ) . I have no internet at the moment so I haven't been on here since I posted my last post. I was hoping to write a long post about how everything was going and some tips for building with celebrations but I still haven't had time? Hopefully soon Anyway, we had our slab laid 34 weeks ago and PCI is FINALLY booked for this Wednesday Hopefully we get keys early the following week. Carpet was laid in every room but one bedroom last week. Fly screens were put on last week. Door handles were all put on yesterday, we finally got to see our front door handles, woohoo! And the NBN and other smart wiring on the house was done last week. A few touch ups of paint was also done last week but I noticed today that the linen closet and my WIR still need some shelving painted. Hopefully there isn't too much to be done when we have PCI? Here are a few more photos - My incredible linen closet - this room almost makes me cry because I will finally have storage that won't be IKEA bookcases Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My larder doors when closed. The black was actually a light charcoal colour for the cinema room but its mysteriously really dark, almost black ????? I am going to look into this because I don't like black at all and I'm sure it wasn't that dark when I chose it?????!! My husband loves it though and thinks it's perfect for the cinema room. I really like the mocha colour we chose for the rest of the house. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I will let you know how PCI goes - hopefully well and we find out our move in date on the day too I will also try and check out everyone else's builds when I get my internet back. I'm hoping to see a few finished houses Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 238Nov 01, 2015 5:04 am Woo hoo. Cant wait to hear how pci goes. It all looks fab so im sure it willl be fine. Love that linen so much storage. Great idea with the larder doors. Good luck. Re: Building the Lennox with Celebration Homes in the South 239Nov 02, 2015 12:13 am I was so sure I'd replied to this - I LOVE your double larder doors it looks great and ye gods that linen is the size of a small room! Wish we had one of those We have a charcoal carpet throughout (well, where carpets go in the bedrooms and theatre) and I'm really worried it will be too dark! Ours isn't as nice and fluffy as yours either I'll keep fingers crossed for your PCI - good luck!
