Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 03, 2014 5:23 pm Hi all Just wondering, at what stage would you know if it is possible to build the garage wall right on the boundary or not? Neighbours have a little window on our side, but not sure if it's a window of habitable room. We are building with Metricon and we are waiting for our PC contract. If we cant have the garage wall on the boundary, it's going to be a dealbreaker for us, so we are just wondering when we will be able to find out. Please help!! Thanks Re: Boundary garage wall. please help... 2Dec 03, 2014 6:52 pm Hi, in order to get our plans through council we had to get the neighbours to sign a stat dec agreeing to us building the garage wall to the boundary. If they didn't agree we needed to have it half a metre from boundary. We are on a small block (405m2) in Brisbane so not sure if the same rules apply everywhere. Re: Boundary garage wall. please help... 3Dec 03, 2014 7:12 pm Hi, Im in vic and have a similar problem. We need to apply for council dispensation for our garage on the boundary. We can avoid this by moving it in 800mm but that would be a deal breaker for us too. At this stage we have been presented tender. To proceed we need to employ a town planner to draw up and submit a planning permit to council, We are in the process of getting quotes for the cost of this. Our situation may be different too as we are doing a KDR. Our garage wall will also sit next to the neighbours so we need extra permits to look at the foundations of their existing building so our wont compromise their structure ( which it shouldn't as we are adding fill there not removing it. Its all getting annoying and we are almost at walk away stage already. Re: Boundary garage wall. please help... 4Dec 03, 2014 8:12 pm jessicana10 Hi, Im in vic and have a similar problem. So how long do you have to wait before you get the answer? Re: Boundary garage wall. please help... 5Dec 03, 2014 9:42 pm We are building with Henley. As part of the planning permit we will have to display a sign for 2 weeks at the front so residents have the opportunity to see our plans and object. We are lucky as we only have 1 neighbour (we are next to a reserve) and they are happy with anything we build. As for how long it will take... who knows all they keep saying is 'this is going to delay things' thanks Chippy, i hope they have applied sealer but i am doubt to be honest, so i am gonna do this job after handover. 8 16541 You should be able to encase the sewer but you will need it designed and approved and access to lot 580 to do the work 2 17368 In WA zero lot is actually zero lot. We build 10mm in from the boundary. My house and my neighbours house have garages that sit only 20mm apart. When I had our roof done… 3 7222 |
