Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9501Aug 19, 2017 9:24 pm dougang287 Jessiej Any advice for this? We went and had a look at the house today and it seems this wall isn't straight as the tiles don't match up. On the other side is the garage and the architrave is cracked and so is all of the paint. Is this something that can be fixed? Thank you One thing I learned during our previous builds is not worry about the little imperfections during the build stage. It all comes together in the end. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9505Aug 20, 2017 10:05 pm For those of you with completed builds, has anyone had trouble fitting ready made blinds inside your window frames? I've had some windows slightly larger and some are smaller than the stated sizes. I bought some venetian blinds and can pack the space in the larger windows and will cut them down for the smaller ones. It's not the end of the world, just a real pain and strange how they are not consistent. The windows are non standard sizing because the timber reveal is incorporated into the overall window size. Hubby is a glazier and curses these damn windows. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9507Aug 21, 2017 8:05 am Anyone able to share photos of the joins in your kitchen bench? I'd like to compare what is reasonable in terms of colour match and the size of the join. I ran through my variations again (which were all correct) and noticed that Coral had missed a $2000 credit!! I had a $2k allowance in my contract for colour room upgrades and another $2k for Clipsal upgrades. After each of those appointments they charged me the full amount of the upgrades but had only credited the colour room allowance back. I queried it today and a new Variation popped into my inbox for $2000 credited back for clipsal allowance... can't believe I was about to pay twice for that!! We are working through getting all of our documents through to Coral Head office as they are working on getting our final council approval and getting ready for our start date. As part of the required documentation they have requested that we organise council approval, either ourselves or through our driveway contractor, to construct a vehicular crossing. I have 2 small issues doing this and wanted to know what others have done/if anyone can give advice. Problem 1 - We haven't organised a driveway contractor yet as most of them will not lock in with pricing etc. until you get a lot closer to being ready to do the work. Problem 2 - I have no idea what even to do to get this approved. Please help!! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9512Aug 21, 2017 7:45 pm Caydenn Fellow Coral home builders in QLD I need help!! Look for 'crossover application'. All I sent was the Coral diagram together with the all important payment for $220, and within a couple of weeks I had the approval back. If you want to let me know what council you're in I can try and help you to find the application M Y C U S T O M C O R A L B R O N T E 43 ...............Kitchen! 16 Nov 2016 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79581 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9515Aug 21, 2017 8:35 pm Caydenn Fellow Coral home builders in QLD I need help!! Should be a few on here who can help. But you should only need council approval for the house and the crossover to be done later. Ps. Coral submitted my plans to council for me (my sales consultant did this from memory).
Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9517Aug 21, 2017 8:45 pm klea @Caydenn are you Gold Coast city council? Hey Klea, Yes I am Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9518Aug 21, 2017 8:46 pm Caydenn Hey caydenn. I updated my post above. And realised you meant coral is only asking you to organise the crossover approval. What vonsta76 said... When you get to appointing a driveway contractor if they won't organise the council approval for you (I'm sure they will) then it should hopefully be simple for you. Brisbane city council's is a simple online self-assessment form that takes about 5mins to complete, unless you're doing something crazy. Thanks Klea, Our construction plans have gone to council they weirdly just wanted us to organise the vehicular crossing approval. I'll let them know we are doing driveway post handover and not to worry. Thank you! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9520Aug 21, 2017 9:46 pm Crossover permit is now required with your plans even if you are doing the driveway after handover. It's a new gccc thing! It's recent too because we built in 2015 and we didn't have to then. We are with Clarendon and we also had to this time. You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14106 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4346 |
