I'm just sick of hearing what is 'planned' for the week turning up to see maybe half of it done, but yet the other 5 corals in our estate always have people working on them. I just don't understand what we have done wrong with him. Thanks I haven't built yet and I am already very upset with the service provided at the pre-site stage. It is hard to say whether I would suggest to build with them because maybe the build itself will be fantastic but this particular part of the process has really got me down I can only hope I will be able to provide positive feedback once the buils is done Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10353Jan 22, 2018 9:23 pm Thanks guys painting on the exterior stil not finished above garage door to be painted the shale grey and the pilon on the garage to be the charcoal blue but it does make such a difference being able to see it finally and once he balcony is done OMG can't wait to see that! If that coz of change of supervisor / delay of building process? Do you think if you bother them all the time, thing will get better? Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10356Jan 23, 2018 7:26 pm MrsJM s-X-s Hello Everyone - a first home buyer - have almost finalised the design with Coral - I see most of Coral builds are in QLD and I heard Coral is a well known there.. I'm here in NSW - West Sydney area. Any one here with experience of building with Coral to share theirs ... Thanks Sorry to be a downer but I built in Sydney and I highly recommend you find another builder! Cora NSW have had issues for a long time now, and despite their promises and efforts, it isn’t getting any better. Huge turnover of staff- we had so many site supervisors during our build and they would stick around for a few weeks, would do bugger all on our job, then they would go. Coral employees have also told me relative to other builders, they pay trades bugger all, and won’t budge on what they will pay. This means with the Sydney market already making it difficult given how much construction is going on, when they do get a tradie, they are usually scraping the bottom of the barrel. What is it you like so much about that coral design? I’m happy to help you find another floor plan with another builder than ticks all the boxes. That’s how much I’m hoping you take your money elsewhere. Building with coral is a world of pain you can avoid. Stories like this about nsw builds have become increasingly common unfortunately when it comes to coral homes. I got my keys December 2016 and there are still a tonne of outstanding issues they haven’t rectified! Did you file a complaint yet? Once build is finished, you had to deal with their staff in QLD or here in NSW? If you went face to face how was their response? promises after promise? Sorry for all these questions.. There are couple of main reasons why Coral is in our final rounds - 1) The plan we liked - Grange 29 and if you can suggest a plan similar to that , please 2) Price - having spent nearly 500k for land (didn't have much idea an year ago - should have researched about building price as well) and to keep final amount below 800k with all the modifications, upgrades etc no other builder has come near Coral - about 40-50k difference which we may use on landscaping , furniture and other needs - second reason is the main and most dragging one for us... Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10358Jan 23, 2018 7:52 pm s-X-s Corallake Same here! Love the plan but the build was a terrible experience and had to be on top of them ALL the time. If that coz of change of supervisor / delay of building process? Do you think if you bother them all the time, thing will get better? Ok so... We only had one SS. We hoped he would move on but apparently our house was the first when he joined and he was going to see it through. Very arrogant and rarely did anything he said was going to get done actually got done. VERY BAD at communicating. We had to contact him and weeks would go by with no updates and no work. Lucky my husband was in the industry so kept an eye on things and picked up on engineering shortcuts (steel beams not put in, reinforcing, bracing, etc.) I don't know how the certifier actually certified things before they were actually done. Our contract finished on the 30 June 2017...Gyprocking had not even started so yes there was a delay... The Friday before tiling was meant to start, we got a phone call requesting us to reselect tiles as ours had been damaged and because they were discontinued they did not have enough. It took us ages to get them to replace the laundry tiles that they had already laid (after PCI) The rectified tiles we were charged a premium for, are terribly laid so we have taken this up with Fair Trading So many more things...At PCI we were not given an opportunity to put stickers to rectify...things we mentioned to be fixed the SS did not put on the list... Yes if it is called for, you need to jump up and down. Be on top of them if you think they are not doing right by you and be meticulous with your records. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4337 |
