Any sway in that and the bolt head will sheer clean off. Thats terrible workmanship Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10864May 15, 2018 6:50 pm brodav83 No, that is not acceptable especially given it is potentially load bearing. We haven’t heard anything yet from the building manager. And we’ve already paid our frame payment 😩 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10866May 15, 2018 7:02 pm Ugh yeah doesn’t look the best! I’m no help but I hope they sort it out for you Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10868May 15, 2018 8:19 pm mj-mac4 Our building supervisor said if we did t like it we should of done our concrete after so it wasn’t included in our slab pour. But we never thought they would do such a crappy job 😖 Doesn’t look good let alone structurally sound. Are you having tiles or decking in your alfresco area? We still have the bolts but they were at a crazy angle like yours and the supervisor got the carpenter to remove them and do them again. Thanks heaps ☺️ Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10876May 16, 2018 2:10 pm Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10877May 16, 2018 4:59 pm We have just had the state manager from Queensland come down to look at our house after we discovered we have big issues with our bricks (and so many others along the way) The bricklayers have used different mortar gauges over the entire house. The major problem is on our back patio where we have 50 mil gaps above windows, they are going to have to redo the whole patio and are now suggesting that we render the whole house. Does anyone know where we stand in terms of compensation or accessing insurance for this type of problem? We didn't want our house rendered!!!! Inside is really starting to come together, there are few things they still need to fix up but looking good. if only they would pull their finger out! We are nearly at 8 months now since start of build and now over contract. If they decide render is the best solution bare in mind that’s usually because it’s the cheaper fix for them. If you paid any upgrade costs for bricks I’d absolutely be demanding a refund of that at a minimum. Also check what tender they are gonna use. They used rockcote on mine which has the colour through the mix, then after they stuffed up and talked me into allowing them to repaint the facade rather than skim coating it with render to fix, the whole facade it is now all patchy and just generally disgraceful. If I had have known paint would do this I would have demanded they skim coat to fix. You don’t want their ‘fix’ to not only be not what you want but just generally not right. If you decide you don’t want render, which is totally reasonable because it’s a look you either love or hate, you’re well within your right to demand they pull the bricks down and fix the defects, and they still have to pay you liquidated damages on top of that. They can’t claim this as a delay. It’s their fault. Yes I agree with this comment too just remember you have to love knowing you didn’t want a rendered house!!! Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10880May 16, 2018 11:09 pm So just a little update we are now 62 weeks into our build we will be 5 months over contract next week and we are probably 6 weeks away still what a big fu@k up. We have noticed they have tried to fix things but so badly that we are not accepting I’m just over it!!! It’s cold in the caravan!!! You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14021 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13718 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 1670 |
