Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8822Jun 21, 2017 7:03 pm breebarter Thanks so much guys, we decided to go with the extra wall insulation and the sarking. So hopefully it's worth it in the end!! We have also taken out our driveway and will do the driveway/fencing/landscaping ourselves. Has anyone upgraded the following items: - bigger shower head - niche in shower - undermount sink - glass splash back And any prices? Cheers Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8823Jun 21, 2017 7:10 pm dougang287 breebarter Thanks so much guys, we decided to go with the extra wall insulation and the sarking. Has anyone upgraded the following items: - bigger shower head - niche in shower - undermount sink - glass splash back And any prices? Cheers we did a shower niche $400 odd bucks and undermount sink &500 approximately We did glass splashback $1691 (I think that included the Butlers Pantry as well). We upgraded the sinks $1065 (kitchen double bowl) Butler's (single) $1200 but they are both flushmount (don't ask me why it was more for the single bowl... I think they under-quoted us on the previous one) Coral build- Modified Bronte 42 - We're in!!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82234&p=1513775&hilit=coral+modified+bronte#p1513775 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8824Jun 21, 2017 7:24 pm breebarter Thanks so much guys, we decided to go with the extra wall insulation and the sarking. For sound and warmth or cooling it's definitely worth it. We could scream from one end and it's so faint down the other end. She said"it's qld you don't need it". Yeah it's qld and no it doesn't get as cold here as the rest of Australia, but I don't like to sit in a cold house. Had enough of that being a sydneysider! Cheers Shower niche is about $400 Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8830Jun 22, 2017 10:25 am How long does it take for Coral to process your electrical and colour appointment changes? I am worried they will delay our build because our land is set to register (sometime) in July and our appointments are both on July 10th - there will be a 2 week settlement from when our land registers so earliest we could submit everything to council would be July 14th (if our land was to register on the 1st of July) but I am wondering if this is the case, will Coral have everything processed and ready to go by then? It's probably more likely our land won't register until mid-late July but just wondering if anyone knew timing on this? Really don't want any delays Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8831Jun 22, 2017 10:30 am Sorry to say but be prepared for disappointments. Coral's turn around on variations/changes can vary from one week to six weeks. I want to try and be in by Christmas and every week matters at the moment. Once Coral get the letter they issue the start date within a few days and expect this to be a further 2 weeks away. Your building so expected delays. Plan for at least 2 months past your planned date. (Ours is 4 mths past were we needed to be!!) We are 8 weeks into the build now If you come in before your worse case time line, than you are a winner Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8834Jun 22, 2017 12:16 pm Definitely expect delays. Things don't happen quickly at the admin stage. I wouldn't get my hopes up. We had so many delays and disappointments at this stage. As hard as it is, try and take all expectations off the table. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8835Jun 22, 2017 2:42 pm Admin side of coral is about as helpful as a chocolate watch - they take bloody ages. They will not action your selections until building has been approved. Triple check everything too. The admin side is a bloody nightmare Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8836Jun 22, 2017 2:59 pm dougang287 Admin side of coral is about as helpful as a chocolate watch - they take bloody ages. Anyone done an LED strip rope light under their overhead cupboards in the kitchen and how much did it cost through Coral / Clipsal? Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8839Jun 22, 2017 3:50 pm StephLee Okay new question.. Anyone done an LED strip rope light under their overhead cupboards in the kitchen and how much did it cost through Coral / Clipsal? A couple of things here. Make sure your plans indicate a rebate under your overhead cupboards for the strip. This will allow you to inset into diffuser casing. The lights will last longer sitting on a metal surface apparently due to heat distribution. Also, the self adhesive doesn't stick too well and even using glue I've found to be problematic because of the steam etc. Secondly- I have be warned off beacons strip lighting which is what you'll get through coral and Clipsal. I made an allowance on my electrical system for owner installed strip lights. I think it was $78 per point and then owner supplied strip lighting during construction. That was you can select the colour you want, brightness, how many bulbs per meter etc and can liaise with the electrician about where to install the driver (which you'll also need to supply). Meet with your electrician and discuss when the time comes. But having it on your plans means they have to do it for you. C U S T O M. C O R A L. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13775 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4352 |
