The things I have learnt along the way are staggering. Building a house is a complete nightmare. Looking around other threads it appears that there are issues right across the project build industry but Coral seems to be amongst the worst. I should have looked on homeone before signing the dotted line with Coral. Sorry your having delays I feel your frustrations I really do we were given a start date in March for May but well with all the challenges we had it ended up end of Sept I think unfortunately there can be terrible experiences with all builders lucky C has such a great community thread where we all share things to help each other. Shame really more people don’t know about H1 hang in there seeing the porta loo and then a slab will be worth it it really will Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9945Oct 27, 2017 12:35 pm Thanks guys, you are right. the community here is great. I have learnt so much and also so impressed with how much people just want to help (like taking pics of the neighbours roof tiles hey browndog ) I have documented everything down to the last tee and will be divulging a lot of information that i have learnt along the way to make sure that other FTHB's like myself are aware of some of the pitfalls of building your own home. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9946Oct 30, 2017 9:00 pm A question to those that have moved in, Has anyone had any bumps under their carpet? We have a couple in our bedroom and media room, it's like there is a rock or something under there. I don't know if this is normal and just needs settling down or if there is actually something under there. Be a pain if they need to rip up the carpet but it's not something I could just put up with Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9948Oct 31, 2017 12:20 am Jessiej A question to those that have moved in, Has anyone had any bumps under their carpet? Be a pain if they need to rip up the carpet but it's not something I could just put up with Hi. We are OBs but when we had our carpet installed we had a few bumps in our carpet and they were little rocks as you said. Easy done to pick up rocks either during transport or while carrying the carpet. It’s a nuisance but it’s actually not that big a deal to pull up the carpet. Just make sure that you go through your carpet in each room and find them all so you’d only ask them to come back once. Below is a picture of one of the bumps. The carpet in our master bedroom is actually thicker than this so we did almost not notice but found a couple of stones as well. Ours took forever and is still going Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9952Oct 31, 2017 10:58 am [quote="StephLee"]4 weeks today since our plans went to private certifier and we havn't had any update or indication of timing from anyone, is this normal? /quote] It took 7.5 weeks from the day our plans were sent to private certifier to the day we got all approvals. Now it's another 3 weeks before we are on site. We are asking too as our walls have tiles. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 9955Oct 31, 2017 7:15 pm I thought the same thing but the actual wall is waterproof. They only need to waterproof where it has been drilled or joined together. I think that highlights the different between bear minimum to meet standard, and a quality job... just beware of the 'coral standard' which seems to often be a class of its own right down the bottom of the barrel.... Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4341 |
