Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10901May 24, 2018 10:31 am Just wondering how many drains did coral homes install at the sides and at the back of the house. Getting landscaping quote and few Landscappers who visited the property mentioned that the builder should have put in some drains at the side of the house or at the back of the house. Is that true? Checked with site supervisor and he told that the engineer did not mention to put any drains and signed the plan. so we did not put. Can anyone advise about this please. We had 2 drains put in by the builder because we have run off from a small rock retaining wall on one side of our home. Some engineers may not require drainage of there is no fall of land towards your property, but it is always highly recommended to put drainage on both sides and the rear of the home to keep water away from the slab. We added 2 additional drains on top of the 2 that were part of our build. I hope this helps. Hubby has also put in an extra near our front door since. I think it depends on what soil type you have. Ours is "E" and we had to have 4 spoon drains around the house (2 at back and one up each side), plus an extra one under each tap and one at the hot water overflow. So, 7 in total. I think there is something in regards to this that’s been cracked down on maybe see if you can search something on fair trading site Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10909May 28, 2018 8:38 pm Does anyone know if you get more options at colour selection if you go with Elegance inclusions? Like do you still chose from the same range as designer for ceasarstone benchtops? Oh good question I think there are some extras but before signing up maybe check this I know with our benches it was paying for waterfall and 40mm on the island. I have a feeling tho that they are specified what you get in the elegance so if you choose outside this it will be an additional up grade. Maybe just ask maybe you can just go with the standard and upgrade what you actually want you may save some $$ Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10914May 29, 2018 7:35 am ![]() ![]() ![]() Does anyone know if you get more options at colour selection if you go with Elegance inclusions? Like do you still chose from the same range as designer for ceasarstone benchtops? We went with Elegance instead of Designer. The finishes are the same, but there are more inclusions. It is really only worth it if you are going to put in ducted airconditioning. There was a promotion for free ducted airconditioning and carpet and tiles included when we signed up. We did also add the Neo Modern kitchen upgrade which included all the things we wanted to upgrade - 40mm waterfall edges, upgraded doors, glass splashback, undermount range, undermount sink, really nice tap, pot drawers, etc. Just remember with whatever you go with, the pantry comes with painted pineboard shelves. I thought it would have been part of the kitchen upgrade as all of the displays have melamine shelves, so we upgraded to 5 melamine shelves and it was an extra $390. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 10916May 29, 2018 9:25 am ![]() We totally missed the WIP shelving. DH is totally unhappy with the pyneboard, but what can you do.... Ours shelves were meant to be removed and we just deck it out ourself but they overlooked the variation due to being so far over contract we let it go as we just want to get in now! Our old house had melamine particle board in all the cupboards so I assumed that it was standard (that was built 20 years ago). So when I asked about the shelving in the new house, I was amazed that it wasn't standard. So, we only upgraded the shelving in the pantry so you can clean it. We have left all the other cupboards with the painted pineboard. The rental we are in at the moment has the painted pineboard and seems to be okay, but glad I upgraded. We are building in BAL12.5 but our left side just goes over to BAL19. We've been given an allowance of 8k. Should we expect to get any of that back? Also do they actually give you a report of what that allowance goes to?
