Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 21, 2014 3:15 pm Hello everyone, Just after some advice on what things are better done after handover rather than paying the builder to do it? We're building a single level 4 bedroom house with Metricon in Sydney. Glad to finally join up, after reading many posts. Thanks Dani Re: What should we do after handover instead of with our bui 2Nov 21, 2014 5:31 pm Landscaping, flooring, blinds. All big ticket so you'd need to have some self funding. Anything really that you have time to organise and funds to pay for. Re: What should we do after handover instead of with our bui 3Nov 21, 2014 6:46 pm I'm handling the below myself (we'll see if it turns out to be a good idea!). - Dishwasher - Blinds/curtains - Landscaping - Fencing Everything else is included from the clothesline to the driveway I would have liked to just have it all included, but I'm on a tight budget and I'd rather spend the money on higher ceilings and things that can't be done later. We are doing most of that ourselves, we got a tiles and carpet package for 6k extra, I just wasn't sure if that was good value or not (I suppose it depends what 'category 1' includes). The light fittings were something I didn't think of, looks like I'll head to a lighting shop or ebay to see if I can get a deal. AFAIK, flashing is a minimum standard. Out of curiosity is your window glass stamped with AS requirements in any of the corners of each pane? Im almost certan if theyre… 2 6291 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16035 Hi All, I just wanted to close this topic out with an update.
