Browse Forums Building A New House Re: FFL and drainage Question 8Nov 18, 2014 8:43 pm benogtr Hi all, so it would seem on my FFL plan on our proposed build that my drive way will be dipping down from the footpath with an agi drain/grill installed before garage door.I have noticed that my neighbour's builds do/will not have this as in their garage floor height is (well) above the footpath height.....would i be at a considerable disadvantage?Should i get my builder to at least equal our neighbours height?..and would this add considerably to the cost of the build (27 sq house)....I have an ex concreting friend (now Volume inspector) urging me to get them to change it so it's 100mm above footpath level.....My block is fairly flat(has 400mm fill) they have proposed to cut 200 and fill 100. Thanks Mark Can I throw a curve ball here and say the ensuing cost of building your pad level up is simply not worth it. Depending on how much fill needs to be bought in, there is then the extra for an upgraded slab design plus the extra cost of the slab. I think this could run into tens of thousand $$. You can do a lot of drainage for that and still have change. Your driveway will have limited fall towards the house and a strip drain along the front would more than cope with any water that falls on the driveway even in a severe storm. If you cut out the curb and slope the driveway uphill slightly before running down to the garage essentially the only water you have to worry about is that which falls on the driveway. I am looking to design an entry door to a lower ground basement that has 2200mm between the external entry height to FFL of the ground floor. This door will provide an… 0 11369 Need more photos from around the house including your gutters.
