Another build buddy to share war wounds with Bring on the photos! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 42May 31, 2015 6:44 pm Awww thanks TC ! It is very exciting but early days, not anything to really see pic wise, just dirt!! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 43Jun 02, 2015 4:30 pm Got a portaloo today and a bigger sign! Lots of dirt getting dumped but that's it, but in the sagely words of my seven year old "be happy Mum its started" followed by less sagely words "why do they need a portaloo they can come over to our house (we live about 50m away)....ummmm no darling. We have a kitchen sliding door facing a fence on the south side of the fence, idea being easy access to bins etc am in the process of making a faux vertical garden. I will post pics of my pursuits if any one interested. Going faux because it's completely in shade and I can't do high maintenance. Ideally should just need a hose down for dirt, dust, webs. If it turns out crap we will never speak of it again...... Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 44Jun 02, 2015 5:15 pm It's good to hear that you've got some progress. For ours I'm half in anticipation, and half in dread of the excavators turning up, thinking "did we get it all right??" Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 45Jun 02, 2015 5:22 pm Onejohn that's pretty much how I feel.....lots of shouldas.......but we did our best and it will be fine.........fingers crossed for all of us. I rang hubby when we first saw site action happy but anxious, doh! Have you decided on kitchen bench? Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 46Jun 02, 2015 7:52 pm It looks like you are pretty well sorted out in your design, so you should be alright. We decided to go with the post on the corner of the kitchen bench, partly to go with something different, as we have waterfall on the current house. We decided to go with the post on the corner of the kitchen bench, partly to go with something different, as we have waterfall on the current house. Fingers crossed. We did "rush" our re planning of our entrance when it got held up by council - have had a few bright ideas since. Comfort myself with the whole it was not meant to be...... Post on the bench will look good - opens up the space - show off some lovely stools and the floor! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 48Jun 02, 2015 9:03 pm Ikea lights were mentioned. We bought a few shades from them. I really baulk at the cost of pendants - probably cause I am a tight#@#* but we acquired a few I do love at Ikea. I think beautiful lights can make a room and hopefully over time I may be able to upgrade if we feel the need. I love timber pendants and a lot of the replicas.... may yet sneak some in. The "Gaddis" basket ones - we are DIYing in black and one in a grey/blue in the pic its the small basket in aqua. $10!! The two with the dark background we have got the largest 50cm ones $40 each bargain!! Its the Lakheden And the plasticky looking one - looks better in real life is for my daughters room she loved it and I liked it too. Knappa light $19 We do have a fair number of LEDs (35) to do post handover thinking of the wattsavers or possibly the brightgreen loomis which have a good CRI but only one year warranty. Hopefully prices will continue to come down. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 49Jun 02, 2015 9:48 pm "They can use our toilet mum" LOL. I spat my drink all over my screen when I read that! Great idea with the lights! When Mr TC saw the price of pendants he went grey and walked out the shop immediately. So is he a tighter$e too? Yep Nah, just sensible. Like he said "what happened to the price of lights? I thought they'd be $30 each at most" I have to agree. I either got sale items or am making too. Oh and I love your idea about the faux garden and bin access. We thought about that too. I'll go post my site/landscape plan on my thread now seeing I've got nothing else to talk about today. Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 50Jun 02, 2015 9:53 pm Hey TC, yes you can't imagine the pictures running through my mind when she said that..... queues of workers outside our door and much worse!!!. Look forward to your landscape plans - I was very impressed with how you levelled out your block (you posted a "before" photo) we are going to retain one side only 400mm to get it more flat. Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 52Jun 03, 2015 12:55 am my imagination was running where yours was. Your daughter will see (and smell) that portaloo next week ... Great idea to level your block if not too much and 400mm isn't -- certainly not too hard Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 53Jun 03, 2015 5:43 am Found your thread bluesteel. What a great floor plan! Shame about the delay in getting approval but sounds like you're about to start. Love your idea of the faux vertical garden. Pls post a pic. IKEA lights look fantastic. Those Swedes are clever cookies aren't they! Will be following your build Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 54Jun 03, 2015 5:27 pm Thanks Sheilzy! Your blog and house are amazing. Yeah it was a bummer regarding delay at council but that's done now. Fill has been placed and they were just starting to do final layer today, so getting there! This is half done have to say felt nervous how big the area was, it will extend almost to the rear fence, eek, I know the slab will be smaller. We were sort of excited. Excitement has been dampened by my own personally created stress trying to make a change to selections. I have to say ADH has been absolutely amazing, I can't say it enough, in how they answer questions and check things out. It has given me a warm fuzzy feeling : ) Just trying to chase up issues with polytec ravine costs. If anyone else (thanks Mahalia) has any feedback on costs of this finish would love to hear them. Will get some pics today.
