Browse Forums Building A New House Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 61Jun 13, 2015 7:06 pm That pic made me laugh...looks like all of us huddled together with a mixture of fear and excitement torn between oooohs and aarghhs. V cute. Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 62Jun 17, 2015 9:25 pm So who is on sentry duty?? OH I love animals and those meerkats as just adorable- love how they all watchout for each other. Went to the zoo last week and they have a white one - extra cute. Your block is lovely and flat makes things a bit simpler. One thing to ask (possibly TomCat as she has done it sucessfully) HOW do you add the blue link to your own build at the bottom of your posts??? Cant work it out. Exciting times Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 63Jun 17, 2015 10:51 pm Hehe. Yeah we love the critters here too Coz bluesteel's not online, I'll do the sentry duty and tell you about the link thing...
If you want to get fancy with the link, read up a bit on 'bbcode' (ask Google) Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 64Jun 18, 2015 1:37 am Ta Da! Signature updated. Thanks sentry meerkat, you are a treasure with a first floor and lovely windows : ) Hi Pam, Bashworth explained the sandbags - for wet weather or high groundwater to stop pipes getting out of place....phew. The block is not quite flat will need some small retaining walls which will be after or possibly once internals start. No great pics to share - the plumbers were they for at least 6 hours getting pipes in today and then big crane dropped off reo/formwork for tomorrow. It was pouring at different times so I came back at least 5cm tall with mudcakes on my boots. It's all happening fast this week after what feels like a slow start - 3 days levelling, 2 days trenching and now one day of plumbing. Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 65Jun 18, 2015 7:25 pm Gee if you can grow 5cm that easily, I need to get out the gumboots again I can smell a slab brewing on that block from here bluesteel Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 67Jun 18, 2015 9:22 pm bluesteel Hope a slab brews itself up in the next few days!! Well my slab did!! So heres hoping yours will too Its so great to see a few of us moving along at roughly the same stages. Looking forward to following along Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 69Jun 19, 2015 7:39 pm Yayyyy conslabs blue!!!! You caught helicopter action too All happening now woooo Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 70Jun 19, 2015 8:15 pm Yeeeeehaaaaa. Stayed most of the day watching. Felt quite surreal to watch it actually happen! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 71Jun 19, 2015 8:26 pm Yeah it's pretty mesmerising. I caught the guys doing ours - it was absolutely pouring so had to leave. Didn't want to stress them as its a huge job working with that much force in such a short window. And in our view shouldn't have been doing it in the rain. Oh well, some things you can't control. And like I said to my husband ... Two people we really need to have faith and trust in (treat respectfully) are the people building our house ... Or those preparing our food Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 72Jun 19, 2015 8:32 pm I know what you mean I stayed outside the property didn't want to intrude in a really hard very physically demanding job, I hope they didn't mind! I really admired their teamwork everyone had their jobs and if it slowed they picked up a different job. Despite it being cold and wet (rained slightly only) for such a big pour am really glad it was not in summer. Two weeks now for frame to arrive and slab to rest up, you will be roof on and bricking no doubt : ) Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 73Jun 19, 2015 8:55 pm yeah it's a huge job. Good that you saw it and acknowledge that. I think most of us don't understand that ... Just see the end result. My husband's done a lot of concrete for himself so I know how demanding it is (he tells me) No I seen it with my own eyes and admired his stamina to be so organised, focused and physical. Looking forward to your next steps. Hard to believe we are actually moving ... Remember all that time we were waiting ... waiting. Holy heck! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 74Jun 19, 2015 8:59 pm I've done my small share of retaining walls, fences, trench digging, rendering and painting. But the sheer heaviness and sluggishness and need to move quickly with concrete and the back breaking bending over and pivoting.......eeek. A friend visited when I was watching and I said instead of lunch they would probably appreciate a masseur being arranged on site for after! I just got them some lunch!! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 75Jun 19, 2015 9:19 pm Awww, that's really thoughtful. Yes, you certainly get it ... a masseur! Lol. Gee you're not lazy doing all those things! Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 76Jun 26, 2015 10:21 pm Just a non update! Some plumbing apparently happened today - did not see till late in the arvo something had been done. Kids were asleep in the car, we have not even walked on slab yet hopefully will tomorrow!!! Frame due next week which will be exciting. Did my tile re selection today nothing exciting just upped the size of all the tiles was pretty reasonable the lady at Beaumonts in the city was so helpful and patient. Much happier! Still waiting on the stone quote for our bathrooms to be confirmed not sure if will go this way or not seems v extravagant but on the other hand feels silly not to...... Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 77Jun 26, 2015 11:24 pm the Beaumonts consultant I had was pretty cool too. She had ginormously long finger nails Good news on the start Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 78Jun 29, 2015 7:56 pm The lady with the long nails has helped me before she is very friendly and lovely. My 7 year old was full of questions - how does she write, how does she eat and the inevitable how does she go to the toilet....... On another note just have to say out loud our bank, you may ask, which bank, are being a bunch of flackers in their organisational skills......... Your seven year old wasnt the only one to find it strange........and as for going to the toilet urghhhhh that is something I dont want to think about Re: ADH build Adelaide 2015 80Jun 29, 2015 8:27 pm When Miss 7 asked, my thought was, "how does she get her button undone when she's busting".....
