Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 13, 2014 2:36 pm Hi All, I'm in a position where the builder who I initially engaged went bust. Unfortunately, he left a lot of unpaid bills, including additional inspection fees by incurring "Same Day" call out charges for mandatory inspections (inspections are meant to be booked 24 hours in advance otherwise Same Day charge applies). I was only made aware of this when I called up the building inspection guy as to how I should transfer the builder. Now, the building inspection guy will not proceed with the next inspection unless these bills have been paid. I did engage the building inspection guy because I wanted it to be separate from the builder. So my question is, who is normally responsible for paying any additional inspection fees which are caused by the builder's lack of planning, and/or having things needed to be reinspected again? The invoices are actually billed to the builder. Anyone out there faced the same issue? Thanks. If it was up to me to pay, then why is it that the invoices were billed to the builder? 6 months has passed since they did the last inspection to when I contacted them to organise a new builder.
