Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 07, 2014 2:48 pm Hi!
We have signed up with Celebration Homes to build their Lennox design in Brookleigh Estate, Caversham. Thought i would start my own thread to keep track of the progress! Our land hasn't been titled yet, hopefully that will come through end of March / early April. We had our pre start on the 4th March so now we just have to wait for titles so it can all start! Here is the standard Lennox plan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have made lots of changes... - added doors to the study, theatre & games - extended the tiling to the study, games and up the hallway (to B2, B3 & B4) - double vanity and shower to ensuite - overhead cupboard and caeserstone benches in kitchen - overhead cupboards and extended the bench in the laundry - 31c ceilings throughout And many more changes. Once we've received our updated plans back from Celebrations i'll upload them. Anyone else out there building in Brookleigh Estate? I had really wanted a light, bright house and my partner want a dark jarrah look. So we had a lot of comprising, my family laugh and say he won. I got my light floor tiles so i'm happy with that. I look forward to seeing what you did with your electrical plan. Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 4Mar 13, 2014 3:51 am Haha AshShep...sounds familiar! My husband wanted dark tiles throughout, so we compromised and he got to pick the bathroom/ensuite/laundry tiles and i got to pick my light living tiles so i was happy with that! Our Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69989 Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 5Mar 17, 2014 12:30 pm Nice colour selections! We went for the same floor tiles for main living areas (we chose the grey version of yours!), we also chose the osprey for our bench tops and the same carpet as well! So glad we upgraded to the bigger tiles - i love them! Our Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69989 Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 7Mar 19, 2014 2:57 pm We got our final drawings from Celebrations yesterday. There are a couple of things that aren't right, but it still looks great! Very happy with the changes we've made, can't wait to get building now! Apparently the application for titles has been made to landgate, just got to wait for approval. Fingers crossed it should come through by the end of April. Here is our plan... Two changes that will be made - remove broom recess in linen/store and to move the trough next to the washing machine (not centered as it is on plan) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 8Mar 19, 2014 10:04 pm Looks Great! I like the nib walls in the showers, will make keeping the floors clean much easier than in our house. Was it expensive for some of the extras you put in like the double vanity and shower and double wardrobes? Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 10Mar 21, 2014 11:24 am Hi Elly_93, We were surprised at some of the extras seemed quite expensive, then others were cheap? The upgrade to the double robes in B2, 3 & 4 with sliding doors was $1,150. The upgrade to the double sized shower (we only have the one shower head though) was $980. To upgrade to a double vanity was $1,550, then we extended the vanity further and added a tiled nib wall to the shower so there are no gaps either side of the vanity and that cost an extra $1,005. Hope this helps! If there are any other things you'd like to know more about i'm happy to share Our Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69989 Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 11Mar 23, 2014 11:20 pm Hi Bingo 18 Do you have any internal plans you can upload and your electrical plan? Would love to see what you've done with the kitchen. Was it only $1150 for all the double wardrobes?? Thats really good! We paid the $1550 for the double vanity but then paid the extra $1k to make it stone. Its amazing how quick it all adds up. Don't know if you've noticed, but the size of the floor tiles is smaller in your pantry than your living area, on our plan they are the same. I agree with rossb2003, i would love to see you electrical plan. We too added the nib wall, same cost as you. My partner only let me have it in the ensuite not the main bathroom. He said we wont use it much couldn’t justify the extra cost. We comprised by moving the vanity so that it is flush again the bath so i will have a bigger gap to make it easier to clean. Then he will build me a rack of i will add a bin or something. Elly_93, my advice to you is get as much included with the sales rep before you sign. My guy was great, we got him through a referral and we were able to negotiate a little on price and he threw in a few extras whereas at prestart the price was the price no budging. We got the double shower to 2 shower heads for $740 and it would have cost a lot more if we had done it at prestart. I hadn't noticed the tiles in the pantry, thanks for picking that up! I've got to call our consultant tomorrow so i'll ask her about it. I'll upload our electrical and elevations in a sec! Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 14Mar 24, 2014 11:01 pm Here's our electrical plan. We are going to get an electrician in after handover to add more power points and lights. We plan to have ceiling fans with built in lights to all the bedrooms and the study. We are also having downlights in the theatre, dining, family, kitchen, alfresco, entry hallway and back hallway (near B2, 3 & 4). The front elevation is the 'Orion' Here is our kitchen. We added overhead cupboards above the bench as well as above the fridge. We deleted the tiled splash back as we are going to install a glass splash back after handover. Also replaced the cupboards with drawers. Here is our laundry. We removed the linen cupboard and leaving the space vacant for our ironing board to live (my sisters laundry is like this and it's awesome!). We extended the laundry bench and added overhead cupboards. Also extended the tiled splash back up to the overhead cupboards. Also the trough is going to be moved all the way to the left so there is more bench space. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is the ensuite. We extended the bench top and added a 1020 high tiled wall to the shower so there are no gaps either side of the vanity. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is the bathroom. Again we extended the bench top and added the 1020 high tiled wall to the shower. Also extended the wall tiles either end of the bath. We got the double shower to 2 shower heads for $740 and it would have cost a lot more if we had done it at prestart. We've got kids so our main bathroom gets filthy! Haha those little gaps drive me insane so it was a 'must have' for both the ensuite and bathroom! I agree to get as much costed up before you sign up. It is hard though. We got heaps costed up, but then by the time pre-start came around had thought of so many more changes we hadn't thought of before and also deleted some of the changes we had got cost up because we changed our mind! At least if you get all the big changes costed up at the beginning you won't be up for any surprises at pre-start. Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 17Mar 24, 2014 11:40 pm Ash Shep ha ha me too. I wasn't allowed to have a nib in the bathroom either. Oh well you have to let them win sometimes. Lol Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 18Mar 24, 2014 11:46 pm Looks good bingo18. Love the idea of closing the gaps in the bathrooms. Damn why didn't I think of that! Love your floor plan and the dark tiles. Re the white tiles I would recommend making sure the grout is sealed extra well. It's the grout that shows dirt not the tiles I found. I also found some things didn't really cost much but other things like floor to ceiling to less were pretty expensive. We just got to a point where we thought we had upgraded so many things it was like ok that's enough. Look forward to following your build. Looks like a lovely spacious home. Hope the land settlement is on time for you. Re: Celebration Homes - Brookleigh Estate, Caversham 19Mar 24, 2014 11:47 pm joannek Looks good bingo18.
