Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 10, 2008 9:29 pm HI just wondering anyone who has build with PD found their ducted heating unit noisy when on, be interested to know whether this is normal?as it would be hard to sleep at night if your 2nd or 3rd bedrooms , as mine are near the unit. mines a 3 star Vulcan unit.
I can even hear the neighbors ducted heating running and when its switching on and off from inside my house and when im sitting outside in the Alfresco area. They have also built with pd and im sure using the same unit. I had someone come out from ex.... cooling and the guy was saying he has been back to a few units that have been noisy.. im yet to hear back from Vulcan another thing on my list to follow up. Secondly my 3month maintenance is coming up shortly to be honest i cant find anything that needs to be fixed ... well so far just wondering what maintenance was done on your houses at the 3 month stage? Re: noisy ducted heating/3month maintence PD 2Jun 12, 2008 2:16 pm Hi Clath,
Our unit was very noisy (new). The company came back and fitted rubber feet/pads to cushion the unit in the roof. It's alot better now however still noisy. My previous units have been external to the house so they were quiet. Having been in the house about 6 months we have grown use to it now...go figure Hey, did PD fix all the issues Big Kev found?? Re: noisy ducted heating/3month maintence PD 3Jun 12, 2008 2:22 pm Izzy - do you know which heating unit you have? We dont find ours too bad, but a couple of people have said it seems noisy. Maybe we need rubber feet too! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: noisy ducted heating/3month maintence PD 5Jun 13, 2008 12:56 pm It's a standard vulcan unit, nothing fancy. The company that installed it came back. The noise was caused by the unit vibrating in the roof. The pads cushioned the vibration but we can't do much about the burner.
Clath how'd you go with PD and Kevins inspection. Any dramas? Re: noisy ducted heating/3month maintence PD 7Jun 15, 2008 10:06 pm hi Iizzy yes PD fixed the issues in kevins report.
As for the noisy ducted heating issue Vulcan sent someone out to look at it. he fitted foam underneath the unit but unfortunately this hasn't fixed the issue. He said to get the installers to suspend it above the platform on which the unit is sitting .. that might fix the noise issue.
