Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 08, 2014 10:38 am So after a long time of lurking and finally getting finalised plans back we decided to make our own build thread.
It seems like it has taken forever to get to this point, we signed back in march/early april, titles where supposed to be in June. It's now november, only just got titles, received final plans, had prestart and now we just had settlement. So hopefully things start moving on a little quicker now. Originally we where just going for a look through displays, didn't actually think we would buy this soon, maybe down the track. But then we walked into a homebuyers display, and met the sales rep (who was amazing). He made everything so easy, took us around some displays to get a better idea of what we where actually looking for. There was no real turning back, he was that good lol. There's been a few hiccups along the way, mistakes by estimators, that we had to wear the cost of. Which left a sour taste in our mouths, but every person we have had to deal with individually has been awesome, and tried to do their best to help us get what we want. Anyway, we are building the Essence and here's the floor plan; with some slight alterations to the plan. Nothing too drastic that you will notice from the brochure, but should make a decent difference in person. We added a store cupboard in the main entrance. Extended the theatre and main living area, making the awning windows in the lounge a bit bigger. http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/6b1a3148-5f89-40d0-941d-db4415d7a982_zps0e4589f9.jpg And here's a mockup of the colours we have chosen, the deep reds being Jarrah. I just haven't gotten around to adding a texture yet. http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/Essence_zps4d8de91d.png http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/IMAG0161_zps6onie6pl.jpg Timeline: Finance Pre-Approval - March 14 Signed with Homebuyers - April14 Finance Unconditionally Approved - 25th July 14 Prestart - 13th October 14 Titles - 15th October 14 Final Plans - 5th November 14 Settlement - 6th November 14 Council Approval - 25th November 14 Sand Pad down - 3rd December 14 Slab - 9th December Bricks Started - 8th January I'll post some of our colour choices later, need to take photos of our tiles and everything. Behind us they are doing a retaining wall, so our neighbours behind will be lower. As it's Byford (clay) the site works allowance was quite high, I am hoping with all the fill, it wont be so dear and might get some of that allowance back?. Not 100% sure how it works though. Re: The Essence - Homebuyers, Byford - Settlement 6Nov 16, 2014 5:12 pm some of our selections; Carpet: http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/20140510_124241_zpsdijhwb51.jpg We went with the thickest underlay, and the longest warranty carpet. It feels so soft under your toesies. Main Living Tile: http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/LIVINGSTONE-IVORY_zpsbe49928c.jpg Kitchen Selection: http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0179_zpsqck5argv.jpg The cupboards are Drifted Oak. The Stone benchtops are caesarstone Ice Snow. And the Splashback is a grey subway tile that will be laid 90 degree herringbone - which should look a little different. The verticals blinds are Taupe. which is to all sliding doors. We have upgraded to aluminium venetian blinds for all windows. But don't have a sample to take a photo of those, but has a similar colour to the vertical blind. Bathroom Selection: http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/LIVINGSTONE-GREY_zps8752a314.jpg http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag370/WhiteWillow26/20141109_171130_zps0dalh1zi.jpg The cupboards are drifted oak, the benchtop is smoke shimmer matt, the main tile is Creta matt white and the feature tile is jersey charcoal which will be on one full shower wall in each bathroom. Re: The Essence - Homebuyers, Byford - Settlement 7Nov 17, 2014 2:58 pm Hi WhiteWillow! Congrats, we are also building with Homebuyers in Amberton. We've made some similar choices, we are going with the same Drifted Oak cupboards in the on the back wall cupboards in the kitchen (white island), same carpets you have chosen just in our theatre & matt white tiles in the bathrooms, we also have a feature tile in the en suite we have gone with Jersey Ash so just a little lighter We settle on the land today but still haven't done prestart as there is no access to the land until next Monday due to a watercorp delay, and we apparently have to wait for the surveyor / engineer to check the block before Pre Start and it will probably be January until we can book in now. Will follow your build Homebuyers Centre Urban 55 in Amberton Estate PWC - 8/8/14 Land Contract - 14/8/14 Pre Approval - 19/8/14 Final Approval - 9/10/14 Land Titled - 29/10/14 Settlement - 17/11/14 Pre Start - 5/2/15 Re: The Essence - Homebuyers, Byford - Settlement 8Nov 17, 2014 7:36 pm hwearing Hi WhiteWillow! Will follow your build I have looked at your thread a few times actually, you have good taste Originally we chose Jersey Ash as our feature tile as well, but it was too similar a grey to the floor tile we chose. So went the darker option. I do like your white island bench idea. What kitchen splash back tile did you go? Re: The Essence - Homebuyers, Byford - Settlement 9Nov 17, 2014 7:51 pm Thank you! Our kitchen splashback is called Mattoni, it was new to Crosby when we went in. We only have the grey tile feature wall just in the en suite we thought it would be too much in the main bathroom as it's small. Can't wait to see it all come together! They are a little old, but progress seems to be going well. And the brickies are doing a good job. Very happy at the moment. Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7548 Hi, I'm clearing the tiles from our horrid 50 year old bathroom and preparing to lay new ones. Bugger of a job getting the old… 0 8088 4 14463 |
