Cheers, Simpson Re: Anyone built with Goldruby or Renaissance homes ACT? 3Jul 21, 2010 10:28 am We are building with Renaissance homes in Bonner ACT. Construction is about to start any day now. I have 2 mates who have built with them in the last 2 years and both are very pleased with the quality and the process. Fingers crossed ours turns out as good as well. I have 2 mates who are building with Goldruby as well, the common gripe is the amount of time being taken to complete the construction. No issues on quality though, but Renaissance quoted us much below Goldrubys price with similar inclusions and bigger built up area. Hopefully construction will complete within 5 months as well. Can anyone please share their recent experience with GoldRuby homes? I have seen the homes and am comfortable with the quality of finish etc but am wondering if they have been timely or if they have had any major delays...? Thanks. Re: Anyone built with Goldruby or Renaissance homes ACT? 8Apr 16, 2012 9:15 am I have built several homes with Goldruby Homes and I also built one in 2009-10, when the Australian Government raised the first home buyers grant from $7,000 to $21,000 if first home buyers signed a contract in that year. I thought I would put it into context because at that time, huge numbers of people who signed contracts to take advantage of this increased $21,000 government grant created a bottleneck right throughout the whole of Australia. The building industry could not cope with the sheer numbers of people all building at the same time to get this $21,000 grant. I remember the time and the writer is correct in saying that at that time all builders’ contracts ran over a year to build. All builders were in the same boat and could not get the materials or the labour at the time to build all of these houses at the same time. I remember Matt from Goldruby telling us that the wait for roof trusses for our house was 10 weeks and that they were getting them from Griffith Australia because Local Truss manufacturers in Canberra had over 300 roof Trusses to make just for village building company alone and we booked out just with that one development company hear in Canberra who had all the first home buyer homes to build. I remember that the brick suppliers could not make the bricks fast enough to keep up with the demand at the time and it was the same for roof tiles and window supplies. Building is all good when the demand is steady and the land supply is steady. Throw a $21,000 carrot into the mix and everyone jumped to take advantage of this cash windfall. It was to the industries detriment at that time because it created a supply issue and a lack of available tradespeople to build so many homes in that window of time which was the 2009-10 $21,000 first home buyer grant. Matthew from Goldruby likened it to a petrol station that has 12 pumps and free petrol if you come within a certain time period. You can only fill 12 cars at a time and if the petrol suppliers can’t come and fill up the stations petrol then they could not give the free petrol away because they could not get the products to supply. The line would be around the block and yet there is nothing you can do to speed up the filling process. Causing huge delays. All I can say is that the last home I built with Goldruby Home came in under the 6 month contract time which is written in the contract we signed. Goldruby had no problems completing the home within the time listed in the contract which was 6 months. This is a pretty normal build time for constructing a single level home. We are just about to build again and there is no question, we are more than happy and we are going with Goldruby Homes again! Re: Anyone built with Goldruby or Renaissance homes ACT? 9Jun 25, 2012 4:23 pm I built with Goldruby and I am extremely happy. Before finding Mathew Smith I was having great difficulty finding a good builder at a reasonable price. Someone mentioned Goldruby so I checked the website. I contacted Matt and he was so easy to get along with. He showed me one of his houses and I was impressed. Another great thing was how friendly and reliable the tradies were. The quality of the work and very reasonalbe price was awesome, all part of the deal!. One supplier told me he was the only builder to pass on the builder's discount to the client! Not once did I regret going with Goldruby. Annie Marshall, Forde I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE.
