Yep, the 'breakfast bar' was a must-have for the future family I would love the name of your fencer please - our neighbours had someone organised and they have already completed one fence on their other side, but the rest of the job seems to have gone stale, so would be good to have a backup to contact just in case the need arises, thanks Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 204Jun 09, 2015 9:29 pm snyde Place is looking nice! It's hard to take a good pic, but here you go (it's just funny lighting up near the garage door) http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2992_zpszimkxamu.jpg Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 205Jun 09, 2015 10:25 pm Good thinking JLC, the family will need a good amount of space and that bench is just perfect . Fair enough regarding the fencer, it's one more item ticked off the list. I'll pm you his name, he did the fencing out at a Metricon build for Richandshez, there fence is spot on. Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 206Jun 10, 2015 8:59 am I just LOVE that driveway! Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 207Jul 10, 2015 10:29 pm Hi sorry to hear about your hand over issues. Knowing this earlier would it have swayed your decision as we are planning to build with Stylemaster on the Gold Coast as well. It is likely we will get the same tradies as you had any advise? Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 208Jul 12, 2015 8:58 pm Beefchief Hi sorry to hear about your hand over issues. Knowing this earlier would it have swayed your decision as we are planning to build with Stylemaster on the Gold Coast as well. It is likely we will get the same tradies as you had any advise? Hey Beefchief, we probably would still have gone with them, because we loved the design and finishes, and they were very accommodating with our variations to the floor plan... I think what we would do differently though is get an independent building inspector for each of the stages, which should identify issues when they are only minor, before more work is done and they become a big job to fix. Then if you can, definitely make sure everything is completed to your satisfaction before handing over your final payment and taking the keys, or maybe see if you can put a clause in the contract that says you can withhold a certain % of the final payment until they have completed any outstanding handover items? We have been in 8 weeks now and still waiting for things to be fixed - I sent a complaint email to the big boss last week and that seemed to put a small fire up them, with a couple of the trades now booked in for this week. Our site supervisor was Matt - we were happy with him up until the last day, but he is very good at talking his way around things and we never heard from him again after he handed over the keys. Our main issues are with the job the painters have done both inside & outside, so hopefully you don't get the same ones, or they do a better job Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 209Jul 14, 2015 8:09 pm Thanks for the tips we liked Style master too for the same reason they were a lot more flexible with the floor-plan. We are going for the Claremont 24 I will definitely try to get that clause put in and will see if I can source an independent builder for inspections. Cheers for the advise hope all is well with your new home. ( your home looks awesome BTW photo's are great!) First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster:After Handove 210Aug 06, 2015 10:02 am The nightmare continues... 12 weeks since handover and we have had the plasterers and painters in fixing pretty much every single room in the house where there were visible ceiling and wall joins, popping nails and other plaster/paint defects... 3 days of plastering/sanding: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2003_zpsjatzlerj.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2006_zps4s3y1sp2.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2001_zps2jvm0kcx.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2004_zpsjozbk2rb.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2007_zps9cqudwe4.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2009_zpsjccrzzfn.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2010_zpsfkpi2k7t.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2011_zpsony9ktfp.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2013_zpsrekom5f2.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2016_zpsp1iez3a0.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2017_zpswe0zw0ka.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-plaster%2012_zpsg7qgjvhv.jpg First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Handover 211Aug 06, 2015 10:23 am The painters finished yesterday, and at a glance the house looked normal, but no... visible roller lines all over the ceiling in our main openplan living area: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/47aad293-3648-41f7-9cf4-31ccb6d21248_zpseexaz592.jpg pinholes in plaster: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2003_zps969hvrgr.jpg pencil lines from plasterers visible through paint: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2002_zpsrlp9o3nw.jpg but to top it all off, it appears they may have painted the ceiling in our wall colour - to the right is our entry ceiling, which hasn't been repainted, then you can see the cut in line of the original ceiling that hasn't been re-painted (to the left of the bulkhead), and the new paintjob, which is clearly not the same colour: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2005_zpszueljrcf.jpg and the missed spots are more obvious with the different paint colour as well: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Re-paint%2004_zpsijpcywzr.jpeg We haven't even had a good look at all the other rooms yet, it is just too disappointing and I can't bring myself to look. There have also been a few other minor defects still outstanding from handover (12 weeks later) that are only now being tended to amongst all this other drama... We will be having the Construction Manager out to look at the latest 'finished product' to see what happens next... It is really getting beyond a joke and has been such a disruption to our lives... Hopefully it will all be over soon! Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 212Aug 07, 2015 1:44 pm If your painting is that bad, get onto the Masters painters association in your area and get them to do an inspection, they provide a report to the Australian standards. it's around $770 but looking at your situation I would send them in. Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 213Aug 07, 2015 2:48 pm Crazyk If your painting is that bad, get onto the Masters painters association in your area and get them to do an inspection, they provide a report to the Australian standards. it's around $770 but looking at your situation I would send them in. Thank you for the tip, Crazyk... We have had the construction manager and painting boss out today - they weren't sure how it turned out looking the way it does and are looking at how they will fix the issues, so hopefully it won't have to come to that. I will keep it in mind though. Management has been really good and want to get everything to an acceptable level, it is just their trades that are letting them down unfortunately. Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 214Aug 07, 2015 8:34 pm I'm so sorry to read about your painting dilemmas jlc, you must be so angry and frustrated. I can't believe the amount of issues there are and the poor fix up job they have done. Painting the ceiling the wrong colour is shocking, they would of been able to see that. I really hope you get some great answers and a fix to your painting problems Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 216Sep 16, 2015 11:54 am OMG! Sorry to hear about the trouble jlc. It is always very disappointing.... I've seen that you moved in already, didn't you? Thats even double trouble with all the mess they do... O dear! I hope they will fix everything to your satisfaction and you can enjoy your new house. Lovely house, hope you can enjoy it now. Hi PVBuild, we actually had more painters through just this week to re-paint the ceiling for the 3rd time (that is 4 times in total now), plus a few wall fix-ups... They seem to have finally found a painter that has the attention to detail to make sure there are no missed spots etc... It's not perfect after all these coats of different paints, but it is a thousand times better than it originally was. They are also replacing a couple of stacker doors that are very scratched & there are a few outside paint fix-ups still to do, and the flooring company is coming to fix a chip one of the trades has taken out of our floor... and then they need to get all the paint splatters off our floors & blinds from the original painters that didn't bother to put plastic over everything... So just over 4 months since we got the keys, and we might have everything sorted in time for our 6 month maintenance! They also need to re-do our whole garage ceiling that has plaster joins & nails popping everywhere, but at the moment the garage is still full of all our stuff we haven't been able to unpack with all the trades in & out all this time. But, we are getting closer to actually making our house a home Re: First Build–modified Bayside30 by Stylemaster:After Hand 218Sep 20, 2015 8:18 am sebeva OMG! Sorry to hear about the trouble jlc.
