First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :REVIEW 183Jun 04, 2015 9:53 am STYLEMASTER HOMES REVIEW
Sorry for the belated update – we are still nowhere near finished unpacking and setting up the house, but I will put up some photos from handover day after this post. But first, a quick review of our dealings with Stylemaster Homes so far… Dealings up until PCI / pre-handover inspection: 4/5 stars Handover & After Sales Service: 0/5 stars So, we had handover of our first home on 15/05/15, and most of the excitement was immediately drained by the fact that basically nothing from the defects list had been fixed in the almost three weeks since our pre-handover meeting, apart from some painting fix-ups that resulted in a less than satisfactory internal paintjob and the addition of tiny paint splatters over our nice timberlook floors and some of the carpet in the bedrooms and theatre. Of course there was an explanation for everything, such as the outside of the house not being cleaned during the builder’s clean because there was no point as ‘it could have rained last night and the dirt would have splattered up again’. Not to mention that they didn’t actually even have our house keys, so we had to wait a few hours for the locksmith to come out! So, we completed our list of defects, which according to the paperwork they would endeavour to fix within 10 days. One of the issues was the tap in the kitchen having a very low flow rate and it wasn’t tripping the hot water. Since we hadn’t purchased a dishwasher yet, this was quite an issue for us, and the site supervisor made a show of ringing the plumber to see if he could come that afternoon (a Friday afternoon, so not likely). So we handed over our bank cheque, and the site supervisor drove off into the sunset… After a week of hearing nothing I left a voicemail on the site supervisor’s mobile asking for an update on everything, and asked how long we would have to do our dishes in the laundry because we hadn’t heard from the plumber – I didn’t get a reply, but had a call from the plumber the next day and they came out that week to fix the issue… That is the extent of the After Sales Service to date, which will be three weeks tomorrow since handover. So, looks like a classic case of ‘we have your money, bottom of the pile for you – enjoy your new, unfinished house’. EDIT 14/07/15 So it has now been two months since handover and we are still waiting on items from our defects list to be fixed... I emailed the big boss about a week ago and got a prompt response from him, followed by phone calls from a couple of the trades. We had the Construction Manager (the Site Supervisor's boss) out this morning and he was also unimpressed with the finishes throughout the house and the outstanding list of items, and also that we haven't heard from the Site Supervisor since handover day. He will be coming back with the Site Supervisor to go over everything and will have the plasterer examine the whole house, followed by a different painting contractor to rectify the very disappointing existing paint job. Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 184Jun 04, 2015 10:12 am Sorry to hear you got that trouble after handover... I can imagine how frustrating it must be for you. Its always about money but they should also care about their reputation you would think... We are thinking of not paying the last payment till everything has been done the way we want and the way we agreed.... Lets hope your builder wakes up and will fix the issues soon... We have felt a bit 'left in the cold' as well, it seems like once you have signed the contract and paid the deposit they wipe their hands clean of you. Before we had signed up, they were bending over backwards to help us and meet our every need. Sigh. Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 186Jun 04, 2015 10:29 pm So pleased to see you have made a post but gosh it's crappy!!! What the hell is going on in after hand over land with style master? The fact they haven't contacted you, sent anyone to fix the issues or even bothered to fix them in the three weeks leading up to hand over is a bit poor. I would be frustrated and disappointed too if I where walking in your shoes . Send them an email everyday from now on, make pester power work for you. Love to see some pics when you get a chance. Let us know how you get on First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :REVIEW 188Jun 05, 2015 8:49 am Thanks everyone... It is so disappointing, especially when it ruins the excitement of building and owning your very first home. It is definitely best to withhold your final payment until everything is completed to your satisfaction if it doesn't inconvenience you, but unfortunately that wasn't an option for us... It's exactly right, once they have your money, they don't give a damn! If we don't hear from them today, we will be going into battle mode next week... Oh, and I found this picture as an example of the attention to detail and care taken by the painters (and plenty more where that came from) http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2795_zpsylcz9pe0.jpg First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes: PICS 189Jun 05, 2015 9:23 am Oh well, despite the sour taste they have left in our mouth… Here are some handover pics Post-handover items we are doing ourselves: - Splashback to kitchen and pantry - Deck to Alfresco - Stone cladding to front pillars - Mailbox to match front pillars - Painting garage floor with Epoxy Coat - Landscaping… lots of laaaaaaaaaaandscaping - Fencing, but the fence man doesn’t return calls http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2671_zpsio3scp0w.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2668_zpshduywfre.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2681_zpsevugyjl7.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2675_zpsctmnxmav.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2679_zpslni36yke.jpg First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes: PICS 190Jun 05, 2015 9:24 am http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2683_zpsnlzc0zwx.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2689_zpsl7oe2aih.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2691_zpslmvvpkfp.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2693_zpsq7ptpihe.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2694_zpspvqfxbxe.jpg First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes: PICS 191Jun 05, 2015 9:26 am MPR http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2696_zps4apjqd81.jpg Bed 3 http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2698_zpsgef5qixs.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2699_zpszcl5uorp.jpg Bed 2 http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2700_zps8sscv8n9.jpg Laundry http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2706_zpslifm4lvj.jpg First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes: PICS 192Jun 05, 2015 9:29 am Master Bedroom http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2722_zpsp5ysgwvv.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2724_zpsnxlu2rvp.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2720_zpsjassutuj.jpg WIR http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2713_zpsvamk9kab.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2717_zps904yueqt.jpg Ensuite http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2708_zpssolxhwhr.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2712_zpsurbu6fys.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2710_zpsbtlr1chj.jpg First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes: PICS 193Jun 05, 2015 9:35 am We have also had roller blinds installed throughout the whole house - a couple of pics: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2752_zpsbvj2hcr6.jpg http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2756_zps7auugrf0.jpg ... and we had the electrician install these USB charging points in the Master Bedroom and one in the kitchen pantry: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/IMG_2726_zpshuso7xvc.jpg ... and we have sealed the driveway with two coats of satin semi-gloss: http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah242/cox_jl/Driveway_zpskysubmme.jpg Re: First Build–modified Bayside 30 by Stylemaster Homes :RE 194Jun 05, 2015 9:39 am I love the pendants over your kitchen bench, are they concrete? Yep, they are concrete Yeah, I think we will get good use out of the USB points (we already have!)... can always update them if/when new technology comes out, but they are quite expensive!
