Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 31, 2014 11:17 pm Can it be done? Nothing structural, I'd like to change some sliding windows to awning or casement, and increase the height of stacker doors. Currently they are standard height with highlight windows above, and I'd like to increase the height of the doors but remove the highlight windows, so overall the height is the same. There are a couple of courses of bricks between the doors and highlight windows though, so I'd be replacing some brick with glass. Re: Changes after CDC submission/approval 2Nov 01, 2014 12:56 am I would say changing sliding to awning or casement should be OK - your six star/BASIX might need to be updated if you change window styles but definitely if you change opening proportions. Removing the brickwork between slider and highlights means you are increasing glazing area and potentially removing a lintel or beam in there. This would be considered structural to me, and would impact on your star rating/BASIX as you have changed window area. Best thing would be to run it past your engineer and assessor then send amended plans to certifier and local authority Small footprint in Eliza Ponds, Spearwood WA Hi Minho I have heaps of experience in Ku-ring-gai with both DAs and CDC ( this is the main area we build in).
