Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 29, 2014 8:01 am Hi I am hoping there are some brickies on here or experts who can help. We are just about to have handover and we had an independent inspector through yesterday and the major issue he picked up was the "brick gauge tolerances" around the house particularly in the outdoor area. They varied from perfect levels to up to 50mm difference in the different height of the bricks. Although there is nothing structurally wrong with the brickwork, it is aesthetically incorrect and could potentially affect the resale of our property. Has anyone had any experience with this, and if they got their builder to compensate them for this... or got them to render it successfully? Unfortunately I think it is out of the scope of the QBCC because it is appearance not structural. Would appreciate any feedback. The QBCC Standards and Tolerances Guide provides information in relation to acceptable standards for brick and brickwork. Here is a link to the guide - http://www.qbcc.qld.gov.au/sites/defaul ... uide_0.pdf We may also be able to assist you with non-structural defects if your builder is unwilling to rectify them, provided the defects are reported to the QBCC within 6 months of the work being completed. Information about the QBCC complaints process can be found via this link http://www.qbcc.qld.gov.au/home-buildin ... s/overview Re: Brick Gauge Tolerances- HELP Needed 4Oct 31, 2014 11:57 am Hi charlinic6, I agree with mgilla, and it seems rather unusual that an authority? (qbbc) would actively try to help you. Wish we had that type of support down south... and hope the quality of that help is far better than the help we get from authorities in Victoria, Good Luck, Leonardo_23 Re: Brick Gauge Tolerances- HELP Needed 5Oct 31, 2014 12:08 pm Well spoken to our SS, he is getting the brickies to come back and assess the situation and see if they can come up with a resolution. So I guess I will see where that goes at this stage. Building a Modified Coral Daydream 28, first build, first home and land owners. Acreage Build in Buccan, QLD.
