Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 25, 2014 9:30 pm We have been in our new home (42+) for a good few months now and have been pretty happy with the end result. A few things need maintenance (door handles, air-con, taps, electrical etc) nothing major. The worst part of our new home has been the paint job throughout the whole house. • Paint splatter on walls, floor, doors, windows & window sills • Missing/badly applied paint on doors and window sills and roof • Poorly prepared walls containing bumps, scratches, gouges etc. • Very poor cleanup on staircase We also don't believe three coats of paint have been used. On handover we had our Site Supervisor and his boss (not the owners) come on our last walk through and some of these problems can only be seen in different lights. We recently sent an email to the owners regarding our concerns and how bad the job was. We did invited them to come to the house and have a look at the paint job and to show them how bad the paint work was. After hearing nothing from them we found out later that our email had been forwarded on to the maintenance person. No acknowledgement or anything. I'm sure if their display homes had been painted like our new home the painters would be looking for a new job. Has anyone else experienced the same ? Thanks ! Re: Kurmond - not happy with painting 2Oct 26, 2014 8:31 am We had some minor work - but they did that. By the sound of it they may be waiting for the 6/12 month check. Some items that aren't "life-threatening" can be left till then. Re: Kurmond - not happy with painting 3Oct 26, 2014 3:46 pm Even though we have been in the house for 6 months now this is actually the first 3 month maintenance check/fix. We did email them our check list at 3 months and they claimed they never received it (even though we got a read receipt email back the same day) It has taken this long to get everyone out to fix the problems and we still have the electrician and painters to go.
