We are having chalk beige and it looks very similar to yours. I also see you have put doors from the family to the front entry, good idea It's looking good! Haha yeah we did that because we have little dogs that like to discolor carpet from time to time, so we added those doors, a door on the theater and extended the tiles in the rear hall to the master bedroom. The end result is that with laundry door open but everything else closed the lil buggers can from out the back (doggie door) inside but only have access to tiled areas. Re: Building a PD Illoura 264Feb 20, 2009 10:06 am rock arrh i thought i was the only one who had picked that red splash back lol it looks great mikkyg not long now!!! could you pm me a short list of your pci things? ours will be very soon and i cant find things wrong! thanks I can do one better I'll post em so anyone looking for a list can take what they need from it. This is the list of things we wanted to check not all of them were issues that were raised, this was out check list. General items tops and bottoms of external doors painted paint on windows cracks in skirting corners wonky powerpoints light switches with more than one switch around the wrong way (sparky speak is ganged the wrong way) wardrobe shelfs painted properly light and switches work over grout on tiles carpet pulls carpet gaps cracking where grout meets other materials, metal, wood, plaster etc scuffed walls paint drips, misses, or marks doors close snug (no noise or movement) sliding doors slide easily door stops obvious joins in carpet ceiling lights/vents sit flush external fittings (handels, hinges) clean, ie not rusted or marked gaps between stone bench and walls cupboards arent marked - scratched lights are even, line up etc plumbing complete, no leaks shelfs have adequate support, long WIR shelf was a problem sealant around basins, baths, toilets, any wet areas walls are square External spptlights at right height brick color mortar color water stains on any timber work roof tiles on properly, not lifting up etc seals on external doors seals/weather strips on windows fly screens roller door does its thing down pipes recessed enough And then of course anyhting special you ordered, make sure its there and is what you ordered. The last general item 'walls are square' was a big one for us, it wasnt on our list to begin with but we found 2 walls that were way out! they werent large walls infact in both cases they were small returns off the side of a door or a cupboard and they were so bad I cant believe we didnt see them earlier. So there's the list, hope you get some value out of that. Re: Building a PD Illoura 265Feb 20, 2009 10:08 am I should have said that we actually broke most of these down room by room, so the items were repeated for just aobut every room and we crossed off the items as we went through the house, it seemed to work well. We are having chalk beige and it looks very similar to yours. I think it's Chalk Beige. We have it and it looks the same to me and if I'm not wrong Mikky you chose the same as the Mernda Illoura display which was chalk beige and chalk dust - very nice combination. House looks great Mikkyg, can't believe you've come to the end already. It seems to have gone quite quick. Jackie will be standing on the bath to clean the bathroom mirror like I do and I have to get my DH 6'6" to do our ensuite and powder room Happy at Home Re: Building a PD Illoura 267Feb 20, 2009 11:09 am House-To-Be Hels_n_Greg mikkyG The paint color I think is cream beige I was just wondering if the paint colour is cream beige or chalk beige? Re: Building a PD Illoura 268Feb 20, 2009 11:32 am mikkyG not very original but we love it. Yep, me too! Happy at Home Re: Building a PD Illoura 269Feb 20, 2009 12:10 pm mikkyG So Jackie's like a little over 5 foot tall? And those are 9 foot ceilings and the mirror has a 2cm gap from the cornice.. Jackie's going to need a rag on a broom handle The solution is a squeegee on a broom handle. Safeway sell a really good one - the pad is microfibre (blue and white striped) and the rubber blade isn't ******* like some. It works a treat on the shower screens too. And no stinky chemicals! House is looking gooooood! Long time, no update. Whats happening at your end? Re: Building a PD Illoura 273Mar 15, 2009 10:17 am House is looking good. I've grabbed a copy of your pci list to get us started. Ours has to be at least 8 weeks away. DH has already started a list of things we've spotted before we got locked out on thursday. Your list will be really helpful. Re: Building a PD Illoura 274Mar 16, 2009 9:17 am Sorry for the massive lack of updates, things were happening at a frantic pace.
We had handover scheduled and delayed about 3 times due to us finding more and more things wrong, some were simple, paint scuffs etc some were major glass splash back too short and walls that were WAY out of alignment. However as of last Friday we are offically moved in. There is still plenty of work to do, but my work kinda went **** up so we needed to make the move sooner rather than later. A quick list of things still to do: * Get carpet stretched in bedroom as there is currently a cap between carpet and wall * Exhaust cover for range hood needs to be reordered and fitted * Missing electical point in bathroom needs to be addressed * Service on the bifolds as they are jamming * Tile replaced in roof, we had a leak after the rain on the weekend * Complete the install of the aircon Im sure they'll make us wait and wait and wait now that we have handed over the money, but we'll see. As those who have followed our progress will know we have been pretty big supporters of PD, perhaps the most vocal supports in the face of some pretty ordinary construction. To sum up the whole thing heres a few observations about PD and perhaps building in general: * In our opinion PD had 4 out of the 5 top designs we chose, we really like their designs above all others * The sales people were totaly transparent and told us everything and sometimes more than we needed to know when it came to inclusions and costs of display items * The customer service reps were FANTASTIC and very understanding when things werent going the way we expected. * The building stage is where I'll level my aim at, some of the things that gave us the most trouble were (as explained by PD themselfs) 101 f_ck-ups. The simplest stuff they got wrong, and even having their independant inspectors + our own wasn't enough to keep this sinking ship afloat. * Keeping on your SS's back is ESSENTIAL, dont feel like a bastard just do it! Had we been more active in this area we would have found our first SS to be a complete waste of air instead of having to find that out after so many screw ups. To PD's credit they pulled this bloke off the job and got a much better guy in to get us over the line. But the mistakes from that initail tool has left such a bitter taste. In short I would say that if we ever built a house again it would be a PD design.... not build by PD. Re: Building a PD Illoura 275Mar 17, 2009 3:49 pm Hi MikkyG
Seems like you are still not happy with the overall experience. Are you not happy with the quality of your house or is it the muck ups that you cant get over. I remember, you being the biggest supporter and very positive about the whole thing. Its a real shame for PD to make a customer like you unhappy. Where are the pics. Are you settling down better. What is PD doing about the leaks? Re: Building a PD Illoura 276Mar 17, 2009 7:29 pm I walked past tonight and figured you were in - since your blinds are up, and the HWS installed. Nothing gets past me....
I think you'll find that most of the items that need attention will get taken care of pretty quickly. But just in case, ring your SS every week until it's done. Ours was probably sick of hearing from us. Hopefully everything will be sorted out in a few weeks and you can settle down to enjoying your new home. Re: Building a PD Illoura 277Mar 20, 2009 8:27 am homeishome Hi MikkyG Seems like you are still not happy with the overall experience. Its a real shame for PD to make a customer like you unhappy. Where are the pics. Are you settling down better. What is PD doing about the leaks? They quality is fine, theres plenty of painting that even I could do better, but maybe thats me expecting too much from experiances professional painters, *shrugs* And the carpet nail strips are starting to come through also. But generally its the screw ups along the way, we didnt really get held up too much but to hear your new SS say your house was built back to front and that there are so many just little things that are wrong it really puts a downer on it all. But they have been good about getting things organised and fixed, the air-con got connected yesterday, the flue over the rang hood is still on order but we got an update yesterday so still feel in-the-loop, the carpet is getting restreched in one of the bedrooms, the leaking roof got taken care of yesterday afternoon, the painter is waiting for any staining on the ceiling from the leak to appear before he comes back through to do some touch ups and seal the bathroom, electrician is booked for monday to put in the missing power point, and the bifolds will get a service once they find the instruction manual and get someone out. Yeah and now the fence has been completed we can begin setting up the backyard for the 2 little dogs that will anoy the neighbours Our SS has been good and hes already been around himself once now to check on things, so I feel the after handover customer service is up to scratch even for a large builder. Re: Building a PD Illoura 279Mar 20, 2009 8:52 am Oh and the reason theres been no photo updates is we cant get our bigpond internet account setup out at our place, infact we cant get ADSL2 at all. So I've organised to move to TPG but they have a 1-2 week turn around, so maybe next week. Re: Building a PD Illoura 280Mar 20, 2009 10:19 am We have Canterbury Doors coming to do a service on our bifolds on the 7th... maybe they can call round and do yours at the same time.
Good luck with the internet thing - ours was no drama, just a bit of a delay for a week or so.
