Even sealing is not included in the driveway package offered by Rawson, unless indicated in your contract. You can confirm this with your SS. Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 284Apr 03, 2016 11:58 am I'll ask the SS to confirm. I mean we can live with it but just what we were hoping for. Maybe there's a seal we can coat it with after handover. I'll have to look into it. Meanwhile our SS has been great in addressing some of the issues we noticed during our final inspection. Internal paint and patch work yet to be done but the maintenance guy has been through patching up a few things. Window sill bricks redone due to uneven level. So all 3 vanities were installed at incorrect heights, we specified 900mm above floor level and they were installed at 850mm for the bathroom and ensuite and 750mm in our powder room. Another issues is the spouts we selected aren't long enough so when you wash your hands it splashes over the back of the basin. Hard to tell from the pick but the 200mm spout length is too short, 250mm is more suited to hoe our vanity is installed. At this stage in the game, what would you guys do? Let it slide or ask the issues with the vanities to be fixed up? Also is the spout length issues our fault for selecting it? We would have thought that whatever combo of basins and tapware was selected from the rawson range, they would be the correct size in order to function correctly? We reminded our SS when we did our internal linings check and he marked 900mm on the gyprock where vanity is to go. The height is for hubby not to get back pains (he is 6 ft tall) and i really don't mind as I'm short that the the height serves as an arms rest LOL. On a serious note, if you really need the height and you are prepared for weeks of delay, quality risk of rework, then go for it, get the proper height you specified and check the quality of the rework. In terms of length of spout, if there is another size that suits your vanity better, then go for it too as you have a chance of getting them to change it. Otherwise you can change it yourself after HO. We chose the semi- recessed as hubby pointed out early on that the spout doesnt go a long way. We also don't need the benchtop space and extra cabinet space for the over the top basin. At this point, speaking from experience, pick your battles and be ready to stand your ground should you choose to do so - calmly. When I cant keep it together I let hubby talk, if he thinks he's gonna lose it, I do the talking. Btw, love your bathroom floor! Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 287Apr 04, 2016 8:44 am Thanks for the prompt input. I'm in the same boat at your husband, hence the 900 high vanities. I can life with 850 upstairs. I could even life with 750 downstairs powder room seeing as it's only going to be used occasionally to wash hands. I asked our SS about the spout length and apparently they can only get 200 as existing or 300, which would be too long. I'm sure I've seen 250mm spouts around. Might have a chat with the SS to see if we can source the spout and they install. Yeah we like the floor and wall tiles selected but in hindsight, the cabinets are a little bland but I'm sure once we add a bit of colour to the bathroom it will be ok. I dont see the spout length being an issue later on. You can easily unscrew and swap with another spout. Its probably a good time prior to handover to argue the point though. Looking around on Caroma's website, you need to look at bath spouts to get beyond 200mm reach. http://www.caroma.com.au/bathrooms/outl ... th-outlet- http://www.caroma.com.au/bathrooms/outl ... th-outlet- http://www.caroma.com.au/bathrooms/outl ... ath-outlet Considered the height of the spout plumbing, you would be best to get a drop down spout to avoid the splash factor. Personally, I think the cabinet colour is spot on. Too often, i see busy cabinet door finishes that would date in a couple of years. In my opinion, you can't beat simplicity in bathrooms. Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 289Apr 05, 2016 8:47 am Yeah I started looking online and bath spouts seem the way to go and we'll likely do that after. Point taken on the point down style spout. Shouldn't be too expensive. This is a pic to show the length with water running.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm just uncertain if redoing the 750mm powder room vanity is worth it at this point. I wouldn't be using for anything else other then washing hands. And I really don't want another 2-4 week delay. Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 290Apr 05, 2016 8:55 am I guess it depends how much it matters to you, as others have said. It would drive me nuts to know the vanities weren't all at the same height so I think I would insist on having that fixed. I'd probably make an issue of the taps too, to be honest - a builder shouldn't offer a tap and basin combination that doesn't offer practical functionality. We chose different basins so hopefully we won't have this issue but I might be prepared to jump up and down about it if we do (easy to say at this stage though - we may not have the energy for the fight by the end of the build and I totally get why you're eager to just be DONE). Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 291Apr 05, 2016 6:24 pm On a side note, dont forget your pocket mirror to check silicone around the tight areas of the vanity basins and baths (except stand alone) to ensure leak free vanity cabs. Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 293Apr 06, 2016 5:24 pm Sorry to hear of these issues. Is that standard height of the taps to be that high from the sink? It looks very high and looks like when you wash your hand the water will land on the sink's sill and roll onto the bench top and over time could mould. I would change it to the correct height of 900mm. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 294Apr 06, 2016 5:38 pm Red: we opted to get the powder room redone. 15cm lower than required was too much. I think I can live with the ensuite and bathroom being 5cm lower. Still a little annoyed that we won't get what we signed up for. Nothing can be done with the spouts, 200 and 300 are our only available lengths in the same style. So we have to leave it as 100mm longer will be too much. Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 295Apr 06, 2016 5:44 pm Yes, I would feel better about a 5cm difference than I would about a 15cm difference. Glad you have resolved. How much time will it add to get the powder room vanity re-done? Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 296Apr 06, 2016 5:47 pm Jonny: they're Caroma Liano from what I recall. Building4my3tots: I'm unsure what the height is standard but it is a bit high and not helped by the fact the vanity height there is approx 5cm too short. We specified 90cm height but got 84cm. I'm still contemplating it. I think seeing as we're getting them to do the powder, might as well do the other 2 while they're at it. Re: Rawson Seaview 36: Practical Completion Date - 11/3/16 ( 298Apr 06, 2016 7:00 pm Hi Iverson, Nice build with Rawson so far. I'm quite impressed the trend facade on your build resembled quite closely to the pictures Rawson have on their site (except the colour differences). I was a bit weary the facade on the Rawson site would be an 'ideal' scenario. Out of curiosity, were you given the option to determine the height of the spout above the basin or could you only specify the vanity height?
