The photo i put up was when it was freshly poured for the step. If you check the later photos with the driveway (same colour) it should give you an idea. Hope that makes sense. Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - Post Handover 764Nov 03, 2015 2:10 pm Thanks Deluded! Sorry to be a pain. Do you mind passing your concreter's details? Our Phoenix Build: http://ourphoenixbuild.wordpress.com/ Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - Post Handover 765Nov 16, 2015 10:19 pm it is amazing how time scoots so quickly when you're not sitting around monitoring a build! It has been about a 1.5 weeks since landscaping has completed and driveway is ready to be driven on. Yet to clear all the cardboard boxes from the move such that I can rearrange the garage for the cars to be cleaned and parked inside somewhere cozy. Still yet to figure out the Works as Executed plan... hoping the others on here building in the Ryde Council and / or same builder as well can shed some light! ... Anyhoo ... some pics of the end result, have to fix up the painting of the walls due to the mud and dirt not coming off Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Below are the Viburnums against the wall. Still love those long steps of yours. Good work with the landscaping! Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - Post Handover 767Nov 16, 2015 10:53 pm I've kept it simple to try and get OC .... decking has been planned for the rear yard at some point ... but since I've paid good money for the turf that will stay for the time being Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - Post Handover 770Nov 17, 2015 9:12 am Looks fantastic! What a massive difference a bit of greenery makes to the house. Enjoy Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - Post Handover 771Nov 17, 2015 12:53 pm Looks like you have kept yourself busy. Great progress! Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=75302 Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - complete 773Dec 07, 2015 9:38 pm So ... I am nearing the 3 month warranty deadline and to provide a bit of summary ... Overall build quality has been pretty good. Can't really complain, with many of our family and friends who we've had over comment on the void, the void fans, the uber expensive floor tiles, fireplace, the big front door, cornerless stacker doors, the workmanship of the tiler What I am really disappointed about are the painters work. If only sales advised that in order to get the level of quality internally you need more than the standard 2 coats included in the price. I would not have minded if I had to pay extra as that has really let down what otherwise could have been a very good build. With moving in and the structure settling I've noticed paint cracks along the joins of the window trim and some joins around the house (not major) and I expected it with the sheer weight of furniture and belongs sitting on the first floor After sales dialogue has been pretty poor to date. Mind you I have been quite busy myself with "life" but my whole build experience to date is either ends of the spectrum. They are good at responding during the course of the tender, ok during the build (site supervisor has been very helpful and accommodating), super responsive when they are asking for payment and now just non existent as I try to finalise Occupation Certificate. Called a couple of time and even emailed and what I get right now is zero communication. I appreciate that they may be busy with new customers but after sales support is also important. I'm not going to rant more in case I get a letter from the owner of Alkira telling me that I am giving them a bad name. If I had to do it again, I don't think there would have been anything in the build I would change other than requesting for 3 coats of paint. I would still have gone with Alkira .. and if I had more time now compared to during the build I would be calling everyday to sort out my OC. Re: Alkira Homes "The Sienna" KDR Ryde (NSW) - complete 774Dec 08, 2015 12:18 am You shouldn't be worried about you giving them a bad name. THEY should be worried about you giving them a bad name.......and hopefully they're reading this blog and hence respond tomorrow! I have found it's not even that hard to exceed expectations but it's your job to meet them. But to underperform is not acceptable for any business trying to survive and win more customers. I know you've said its only a few things. But. They should need to do everything well. It must be great getting all the nice comments and compliments. Don't point out the paint cracks.....only you will notice them! I almost had a heart attack when i got my quote back for a 3rd coat, lets just say it was approx 4 times more than what other builders are charging using same type of paint, and house size was similar - definitely not 4 times bigger. No real explanation other than that is the price. Never asked originally as I didn't know what was best .. 3rd coat would be for walls and not necessarily for ceiling and skirting.. standard 20% margin with the contractors now inflated charges and the cost of supply the paint..I wouldn't be surprised that it can be expensive.
