You have a beautiful big block in a lovely location (I had to google your town, I must confess). It looks like you are making some good progress now, I love your colour choices today. It's such a huge day, isn't it? Great to have it done! I look forward to following progress. Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69984 If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 62Nov 11, 2014 7:07 pm Cristyandpercy1 Hey Ashjordansprings, There are new estates going up everywhere since the bypass opened up, but we are just building in an old vacant block in Kurri. It's between the pool and Coles. I think it's a great idea to get everything included in the package. Looking back on it, I wish we'd included driveway and fencing with coral. We might save $$ but organising it all is bloody exhausting lol Building our first dream home in NSW That bypass is gold! So much more convenient for commuting etc. oh nice! Better to get a bigger existing block if you can, the new ones are quite small and expensive - especially in Sydney! Yeah that's my thoughts exactly, especially as a first time buyer and builder I just want it all done lol Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 63Nov 11, 2014 7:14 pm Nice choices, looks like you had a really good day. Yeah that was for labour too. The floor tiles alone were $117, the rest was labour. Same with the upgraded wall ones... $336 for the tiles (and we have a pretty big ensuite) and the rest was labour. Building our first dream home in NSW Great, thankyou. I have appt with Beaumont tiles on Thursday & was originally just trying to stick with all standard range thinking it would be too expensive to go porcelain but that's do-able! Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 65Nov 11, 2014 8:25 pm Yep, porcelain wasn't even on my list of maybes. My tile lady was so helpful and kept putting different ones through her system checking costs for me, so ask them to do that Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 66Nov 12, 2014 8:20 am Great choices So glad you had a nice day of it. We have a budget of $5K for electrical too, so I'm happy to hear it's doable Follow my Coral Daydream 28 build: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72384 Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 67Nov 12, 2014 7:27 pm I felt like we went all out and still stayed to that amount (we have a fair amount of lights to buy still) so we were happy mellywil. The clipsal chick was helpful too and told us we didn't need the amount of downlights we thought we would and redesigned our main open area to save us wasting money too which was cool (you think they'd be out to sting us) Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 68Nov 13, 2014 8:33 am Cristyandpercy1 I felt like we went all out and still stayed to that amount (we have a fair amount of lights to buy still) so we were happy mellywil. Neither of us have a good idea of what we really need for lighting so I'm glad we won't be shafted. I've actually been surprised with our Coral sales consultant not trying to upsell us on anything. I thought they'd be trying to sell us everything, but he's been really helpful and honest (at least it seems that way) on things that he doesn't think we'll need. Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 70Nov 27, 2014 5:35 pm Hey daydream_build, Yeah we got our variations two days ago... But because I had a melt down regarding my colour scheme, we have changed brick and render colour, (still to standards colours, just different ones). Our variations were only $3200 which was well below our guess!! I can't believe yours are taking so long!! I thought because you've been approved, they would be pushing to get it done to start so they can get paid lol!! Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 71Nov 27, 2014 5:37 pm We were DA approved today too which is exciting. Still needs to CC and our bank still has to do their thing, so they are guessing a minimum of three more weeks... It's exciting if the whole thing didn't shut down for so bloody long over Christmas!! Bring on the end of January!! Building our first dream home in NSW Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 72Nov 27, 2014 9:46 pm Congrats on the approval! I hope ours comes in around that, will be quite happy. Although looks like we're going to be hit with costs to raise the pad by 150mm - and only just brought to our attention today after council approval 2 1/2 weeks ago! Our fixed price tender expires on Monday. Hoping we get the variations through tomorrow but not holding my breath. They've been saying that for the last 2 weeks! What did you change your bricks and render to? Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 73Nov 27, 2014 10:27 pm Oh gosh, how long do the fixed price tenders hold for? We changed them from sand dune to perisher (went and looked at more bricks and I wound up hating my ones lol) and lightening the render to classic cream to match the bricks Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 74Dec 14, 2014 5:40 pm Finally had our variations through and bank has issued ACC. Start date is 12th January. Not long now! How's your build progressing? Do you have any news? Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 75Dec 14, 2014 7:05 pm That's great news!!! I was hoping to get a similar start date but our bank is finally doing what everyone else's seems to do and slowed right down. I doubt we will get a start date until they come back next year Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 76Dec 14, 2014 7:09 pm You never know. Coral seemed to be pretty quick at issuing the start date once the ACC was through. Fingers crossed you get some news this week Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 77Dec 17, 2014 11:34 pm Not looking good here our bank got two seperate valuations done for our house for some reason and they have come back $50k different so they are now trying to work out which one to take.... It's unlikely we will get the acc done before new year Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 78Dec 18, 2014 4:46 am That's a huge and ridiculous difference in valuations! Which bank? Does that mean you have to put extra in? Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 79Dec 18, 2014 6:19 am Yeah... Which is fine for a few thousand, but not $50k!! Building our first dream home in NSW Re: Coral Homes' Daydream 32 in Kurri Kurri NSW 80Dec 18, 2014 7:05 am Mmmm banks stuffing things up as usual. We bought our land and it was valued by the bank when we bought it at $225k all good for them to loan us the money. 6 months later we wanted to start building and had to have it re-valued because valuations only last 3 months and they valued it at $210k, same bank, same valuer. Meant we had to find $15k to make up the difference, they are a nightmare. Not sure how there could be a $50k difference though, that is plain ridiculous. Good luck. Check out our build - Daydream 30 at Logan Village - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73302 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13771 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
