I don't know about 12.5 but we are BAL 19 and weren't allowed. Re: 12.5 BAL rating 3Oct 05, 2014 10:30 am As an overall feature I would say no but for certain parts of the facade you may be able to use some types of timber. Re: 12.5 BAL rating 5Oct 05, 2014 2:26 pm We are Bal 12.5 and have Meranti timber windows and some western red cedar strapping on our facade. No issues at all. I love timber too, so I just went with it... Nothing was said or mentioned. We also had a 8m x 4m merbau timber deck approved for the entertaining area and the covering verandah is timber as well! No issues. External wall must be non-combustible within 400mm of the ground. The exceptions are timber logs with a density greater that 680kg/m3 (i.e. some hardwoods) and also fire resistant timber may be used within 400mm of the ground. Fire resistant timbers include: Silver top ash Blackbutt Red river gum Spotted gum Red Iron Bark Merbau Turpentine. Timbers above 400mm do not need to be fire resistant. 3 4106 |
