Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 03, 2014 5:27 pm Afternoon all. I am a single mum, just about to build my new home. I designed the house myself, so its all me and everything i wanted. Anyway... I am off to prestart at the end of this month (October) and want to sling some things into like minded people to see what you think. I am debating between full height 31c all over house and studio, think the upgrade is $8500. OR Put recessed ceilings (currently in Theatre only) into Master bed and bed 2 and 3 of the main house. at $1600 each. Its cheaper, but I am just trying to think on the pros and cons of all...... Ideas? rep said raised ceiling more cost of heating etc.... recessed ceiling looks nice..... Someone was asking the cost of the waterfall edge of essa stone on the kitchen bench, it is $1000. I priced and declined. Also considering upgrading the power points to the Saturn series. Who knew a power point could be nice to look at...... And soft close toilet lids, so my teenager wont wake me up through the night slamming it down!!! Does anyone understand that? https://www.dropbox.com/s/2duybn3ldpxn1ss/Backup_of_house%20and%20pool.jpg?dl=0 Re: Red Ink New build prestart End October 2Oct 03, 2014 9:02 pm I think there is a bit of an expectation of 31c in living areas of new family homes. Certainly no need to do the whole house unless it's worth the money to you, or you are going high end throughout. Re: Red Ink New build prestart End October 3Oct 04, 2014 1:47 am Ceilings are purely a personal choice. We ended up with: 31c - entry/central hallway/living/dining/porch 28c- all bedrooms/all bathrooms powder room/garage 28c dropped bulkhead- kitchen 31c recessed ceiling - theatre We have been in the house for 9 months now and are 100% happy with these choices. We love the fact the bedrooms are lower as you actually notice the extra height when you walk out. The dropped bulkhead over the whole kitchen creates a nice separate space feeling in such a large open area with the living and dining. The recessed ceiling in the theatre is something nice and special BUT after living with it there is no chance I would put it in any room or hallway that would be seen regularly. There is just way too much constant cracking for me to deal with. I do however regret not getting waterfall ends looks like there are a few different ways of doing the ends with laminate now...wish my redink Prestart lady was a bit more knowledgeable in that area! Re: Red Ink New build prestart End October 4Oct 05, 2014 1:18 am I was thinking about the cracking in the bulkheads.I did 31c everywhere except bedrooms (but did main) and bathrooms .since going full height tiling I wish I had gone 31c there too .but I think if you are going standard tiling then 28 is fine . I think In larger areas 31 c looks better Hi Everyone, wondering if anyone has done a prestart lately with summit homes in WA and what kind of costs were associated with adding gpo's and downlights? we are also… 0 3852 Minimum overhang into gutter must be 50mm, turn down tool should not split the sheet. it seems wrong tool for the profile was used, the flashing cannot slope back.
