Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 01, 2014 10:31 pm Hey guys.. So I started my own blog and said I wouldn't do my own thread, but I'm just too excited & want to talk to people about it besides my partner, which I'm sure, is sick of me talking to him about it all the time.. So here's the info. Me & my partner are both 22 and have a 6 month old son. My partner is a mechanic at Ford and I am a PCA, & studying Nursing & Midwifery at Ballarat Uni. I deffered this year so I could have my son but getting back into it next year. We also have a pugalier named Rocky. We are very spontaneous people, so I'll explain how we went about building a house. In Dec 2013 we moved out of my partners, into my mums then into our first rental, HATED IT! We wanted to make something our own. So one day I was in the car and heard on the radio about 2k and your on your way, I was like okay we have more then that in savings I'll suss it out. I had been looking at plans for a while and no company seemed to have what I wanted (double front/2 rooms at the front with front door in the middle, garage off to the side((not 'inside' the house like the alot of new estates)), 4bdr, and 2 living). So I went in their website and hallelujah, the PERFECT plan! I also saw about mum & dad assistance/guarantor.. My partners nan ended up going guarantor for us and that allowed us to take out extra and pay off most of our personal loans.. So we went down one day to the display and were so excited the display was the plan we were looking at. Then a week and a bit after we took down my partners mum, asked his about his nan going guarantor and 2k deposit was put down that day and colour selections made. Done. As I said we are very in the moment people and don't like wasting time on making decisions. So we are building the Luna 28 with Home Solution by Metricon in Arnold's Creek, an estate in Melton West. We have a 540m2 block and tried to utilise the space the best we can as this is going to be our forever (I'm thinking not likely now) home.. Now to add photos.. It doesn't look like it's been fully filled as of yet though.. I'm hoping that and the outside boxy thing for the slab is done this week!! Looks like the tradies are starting to stay back later too, the house behind us still had tradies laying the bricks at 6pm & didn't look like they were packing up anytime soon.. The mad rush before xmas.. Fiancé rekons our house will be pushed to be done by xmas, a friend is building the exact same house 5 doors down and her completion date is about 3-4 weeks away, they started the start of august, & ours is progressing quicker then hers, so judging by that it'll be pushing it close to xmas, if the tradies go flat out & don't break.. Which in all honesty I don't want it to be done by xmas, I want to be able to save a little bit more money before we move in! Woo! Can't wait until we have a slab, then we'll take a family photo of us standing on it and announce it on Facebook to friends and family were building Home Solution by Metricon - Luna 28 http://hayleyandjonshouse.blogspot.com.au/ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73643 Re: Building the Luna 28 with HomeSolution by Metricon in Ar 7Oct 09, 2014 1:50 pm Congratulations on your site start. My partner and I are building a the Lincoln 29 with M in Adelaide, which is very similar in design to the Luna. Re: Building the Luna 28 with HomeSolution by Metricon in Ar 8Oct 09, 2014 3:45 pm Oh wow! It is quite similar! I'm jealous you have a WIL! I just had a quick look at your thread, yay for frame stage!! My friend is building the exact same house 5 lots down and hers is almost completed & ours is progressing quicker then hers Home Solution by Metricon - Luna 28 http://hayleyandjonshouse.blogspot.com.au/ viewtopic.php?f=31&t=73643 Re: Building the Luna 28 with HomeSolution by Metricon in Ar 12Oct 09, 2014 10:42 pm I reckon your slab is good to go tomorrow - ours was also laid on a Friday which was great allowed to settle over the weekend. I have fingers and toes crossed! We started building in July so we're in our 4th month. But if Metricon is gung-ho maybe we'll move in at the same time --- Re: Building the Luna 28 with HomeSolution by Metricon in Ar 13Oct 10, 2014 7:07 am Once things start they really start. You have had some great progress. We are looking to have the the temp fence erected on Monday. I hope our build progresses as quickly as yours. You have had some great progress. We are looking to have the the temp fence erected on Monday. I hope our build progresses as quickly as yours. It's crazy! I had an email on a Friday saying they were ordering our stuff & it can take 1-2 weeks before construction starts, then got an email on the following Tuesday saying it had started, went to the block and they had cut the sure, then the next day had temp fence.. It's going a lot quicker then what we thought!
