Have booked in for contract signing in Nov. We've been told that we must sign the documents on that day and prepare a cheque for 5% deposit. "Just sign on the day and you have a 5 day cooling period to think it over", said the builder.
Is it true that clients are not allowed to take the contract out of the office unsigned or is this a form of coercion to lock us in?
What should we look out for in the contract so as not to leave room for regrets later on?
Are there people in the building industry we could engage to help us go through the jargon in the contract? Any recommendations please? We are in Melbourne. Thanks.
