Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 29, 2014 11:15 pm Is anyone else building with Aveling homes and experienced a slow building process? I signed up in March this year and have only just had my slab poured this week! I am not impressed indeed, considering my previous build a year or so ago, only took 8 months from beginning to end. My liaison officer now tells me that it will probably take another month or so to find bricklayers, as there is a shortage south of the river (building in Baldivis). At this rate, completion won't be for another 8 months or so! I regret choosing this builder, mainly because Im paying rent as well as mortgage now…and we all know that time is money. It would be great if anyone could share their experiences just to know that maybe Im not the only one out there who is disappointed and disillusioned with this company. Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 2Sep 30, 2014 12:34 am Hi We are also building with Aveling and even though we've had to wait 12 weeks for bricklayers, Aveling have been ok. We flew through admin, slab was poured as soon as it could be and overall they have been good at communicating with us. Sucks about bricklayers but that's not just an Aveling problem. Hang on in there, it will get better. Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 3Sep 30, 2014 12:50 am I think you will find there are waits with every builder waiting for brickies unfortunately! Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 4Sep 30, 2014 2:16 am Signing up in March and only just had your slab poured ... think you might find a few on here (me included) who think that's a pretty awesome timeline. The bricklayer delay is with every builder, winter months make it worse. Sorry, don't mean to throw salt on your complaint, it's a very valid one and I know the stress and frustration of a delayed timeline. Fingers crossed it picks up for you soon. Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 5Sep 30, 2014 2:32 am Yeh i I signed up with redink in October 2012 . Tiles march 2013 . Slab late October . Keys June 2014 . It was really long build but I guess everyone similar timeframe . And I guess I was lucky to start building a week after slab . But every build is different . Hang on there . It's hard paying rent or two morages and when you get in your home you will sit their and think how the hell did I do that . Good luck Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 6Sep 30, 2014 10:42 am Yeah, I don't think there is anything wrong with your time line at the moment. Perhaps you need to spend a bit more time on here reading about what other people have gone through and adjust your thinking on the building game... I think your expectations are a bit high. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 7Sep 30, 2014 12:19 pm Building with someone else but we were told 6 months for admin process so your not far off the mark, especially with the weather probably not helping getting your slab down. Building a house is a long process after all, and as said above the lack of brick layers would happen at any builder you signed with. Hopefully they keep steady progress for you after bricks are done Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 8Oct 01, 2014 10:24 pm We are building with aveling was 9 moths from sign up to slab down but now that they have started I'm happy with the progress there has been someone there almost very day since they started. Hopefully things go smoothly for you from here on Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 9Oct 01, 2014 11:12 pm Yeah I agree the timeframes sound about the same as the guidance we were given before signing up. We were told expect 12-14 months total. 6 months of admin and 6 months of build. We were also given a heads up about bickie shortage particularly sor. We're told contracts would normally take 3 months. There's lots of people's timelines on this site so that's a great resource to use. Give your slab a big kiss! Your over half way Re: Aveling Homes Experience…Not a good one 10Oct 05, 2014 8:00 pm Thank you to everyone for your quick replies. They have all been informative and encouraging. Its good to know that Im not the only one playing the waiting game, and hopefully, now that the slab is down, it will all go quicker. Cheers Last year, 50% of their staffs left. Is it going be bankruptcy this year? 10 31068 Yes, i hace signed build contract and currently awaiting colour selection appointment. 2 29501 I apologise for any confusion, but your understanding is correct.
