Some of the tips I got were to take a hair dryer and plug it in every power point to make sure they all work, same with light bulbs, we found that the whole back of the house lights didn't work so luckily we did that at PCI rather than after we move in! Run the hot water for a bit, that will make sure your hot water is working and the sinks are draining, then check to see that the pipes are not leaking under the cupboards. Our main issues at PCI were the painting on the door frames were not good. They had sand and grit all through the paint and they should be glossy and smooth. The SS should walk through each room and thoroughly go over everything, even looking for chips in plaster etc. Good luck! I have been writing things down on what to do for pci so we can have a guide on what to check and im not so lost when we are in the house. I will write down what you just said as didnt even thought of checkin for grits and sand on the gloss paint for the doors. Im just hoping the SS doesnt hurry us up just because.. I wonder if we are able to start early without her?! We are to meet here at the house at 9am. We live down the road from our build so id say id be itching to start straight away!! Good luck with PCI. I have also noted down some of the points mentioned here. Thanks for the tips Our building journey viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77582 PCI DONE:) keys in 3 weeks? Alkimos WA, Trinity(atelier vil 537Nov 07, 2015 2:41 am PCI done and dusted today just well over 3hours.. No biggie. We also decided to hire a private inspector to help us with pci in the last minute. Best decision we've made so far as i wouldnt have inspected the house the way he did! I am ocd but he is on another level! i love it!! I will put his details below just so if anyone wants to hire him and i would recommend him 100% Back to pci.. We were a bit dissapointed and happy at the same time. Dissapointed, well the house isn't ready yet, there was a cleaner this morning while we were goin through the house. He was supposed to finish yesterday but didnt.. So we have to deal with that. Then, there are quite a few issues that were flagged by inspector. most of them are cosmetic issues, like dings on walls and ceilings, cornices not painted properly, jammed cabinet doors, gutters dirty from cleaning bricks and needs to be painted, exterior bricks needs another cleaning etc. and for the bigger issues these are mostly on and in the roof, flashings / gaps in the roof that needs to be covered, some exhaust are not flumed to the outside, dings on the roof, windows needs cleaning, etc. Happy, because we get to see the inside of the house! It was surreal walking in there semi finished! very pleased how everything turned out! I just can't wait to move in SS adviced us that we should have key handover in 3 weeks.. I hope im not dreamin.. Before i forgot, building inspector's website http://www.abodeconsulting.com.au Now for the pics..
