Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2014 6:26 pm I have been reading all these interesting threads and thought I will start a thread of our build. Our builder is non-existent on this forum and it is a good way to expose other builders whether good or bad. We decided to go with Mega Homes as some friends built with them and they had no issues and the finished product was good. I hope the same will be for us too. Like most builders they too had some negativity on the internet. So far it has been good, the sales consultant just does not get back to us in the timeframe we expect but reading other posts on this, it appears to be quite common. We started the process in Feb 2014 and our land title July and we are at slab stage at the moment. We are keen to see our little starter home progress over time. I hope I get to learn how to add pics etc Re: First house build with Mega Homes 2Sep 28, 2014 12:44 am Good luck with all that jillybug. See if you can get the specification upgraded to include the workmanship clauses (13ppsmaller print at the rear of the booklet) of Project and General Specifications (HAI or similar) or could be called standard Project Specifications. This will alert the builder that you are going to be interested in the quality of the house and give you an insight to what quality labour is all about, cheers, Leonardo_23 Re: First house build with Mega Homes 6Oct 23, 2014 6:58 am Don't give up jillybug I was the same with pics when I first started my blog. Just download tapatalk, create an account, search for the homeone forum, find yours & click to write a post on it & choose the little square icon that looks like a painting & upload your photos hope this helps. First house build with Mega Homes 8Nov 05, 2014 11:57 pm Hi jillybug. We are planning to build with mega homes. Just want some feedback from u. Need to ask a lot of questions. Pls message me when u have time. Thanks Re: First house build with Mega Homes 9Nov 07, 2014 6:13 pm Hi Belladcruz you can send me all your questions and I will try and respond as best I can. I started this thread because when I searched this forum Mega Homes was non existent. So far we are happy with the build although the progress has been slow. We completed frame stage and we got an independent inspector who is on this forum to check their work and it was all good. Re: First house build with Mega Homes 11Nov 07, 2014 9:07 pm Looks good Jillybug is the other half of your house being rendered? Dont worry all builds have delays in them weve had a couple due to weather and then just times where it seems like nothings been done. But one day you'll go there and nothing new has been done then the next day they might have done heaps Re: First house build with Mega Homes 12Nov 07, 2014 9:18 pm Hi Sapphire the whole is being bricked. They are still busy with the brickwork. It does feel as if nothing has been done for a while. I am going tomorrow and hopefully there will be bricks and not a lot of blue showing. I love your big house. I can only dream to have one like that Re: First house build with Mega Homes 13Nov 07, 2014 9:41 pm jillybug Hi Sapphire the whole is being bricked. I love your big house. I can only dream to have one like that Its nice weather so hopefully they start early & bang them out quick before it gets too hot. Your in the south east right? Dont worry it felt like the quick stage scaffold was around our house for ages lol even took a while for it to be wrapped. I was very picky when we chose our house. We went through so many displays all over the south east suburbs multiple times haha I just was so stubborn with wanting a double story so we could have backyard & ive always dreamed and wanted to live in a double for some reason lol but alot of them are so expensive. We were just lucky we found a builder with a less expensive range because they didnt build displays for them. Your dream is reachable dont worry Can't wait to follow the rest of your build on here & then one day your double story build Re: First house build with Mega Homes 14Nov 07, 2014 9:41 pm Oh and what colour are your bricks and roof? Re: First house build with Mega Homes 15Nov 07, 2014 9:55 pm Our bricks are Boral Raheen. It is not our first choice as Glenfern was our first choice but then the bricks were out of stock and we did not want to wait. I can't remember the name of the roof colour but it is dark. We are building in Clyde North. Re: First house build with Mega Homes 16Nov 07, 2014 11:05 pm Jillybug! I found your thread wow our colour schemes are identical! It's looking great so far - and per my other post I can see your mortar is a great off white shade I'm loving your taste --- Re: First house build with Mega Homes 17Nov 08, 2014 5:51 am Thanks MyH1login . I still need to load more pics just tested with these two but hopefully will get the hang of it. I was sad that we were not able to get the Glenfern brick now that I have seen how great your brick looks. Hope the Raheen brick comes out okay.
