Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2014 5:10 pm **UPDATED AUGUST 2015 - DO NOT, DO NOT BUILD WITH WA HOUSING CENTRE, IT'S THE BIGGEST MISTAKE WE HAVE EVER MADE! REFER TO MY LAST POST IN THIS THREAD FOR DETAILS**
Hello all! Me and the girlfriend are jumping in for our first build and although it's still early days I figured we are far enough along that I can start a thread to keep track of the goings on and hopefully grab some advice along the way. Early August we started talking to companies regarding house and land packages, WA Housing were the first ones to get back to us and honestly the service was great so we didn't bother with anyone else... Since then I've seen some unfavourable reviews online but so far I've no complaints. We were quickly met with a young confident salesman and being a professional salesman myself I let him know from the start I wasn't interested in any bs. I was very clear I was ONLY interested in titled land and was not interested in anything untitled (even if it was due in a month), I also gave him a fairly specific area in which to look (Swan Valley). A couple of false starts later (he must of forgot I wanted titled only lol) he finally found us a block that was titled, in the right area and within our budget, lovely. Queue the whirlwind effect that has been our administration phase... Within 2 months we have gone from a email enquiry to this morning when I was informed pre-start would start in about 2 weeks. Now to be fair, we are pretty easy to please, we aren't asking for a dream home first time around. Our design is a slightly modified version of their "Onyx" design, the changes are very minor and most of them are to fit in with The Vale guidelines. To their credit the process thus far has been extremely smooth, everyone from our sales rep to our settlement agent to our finance officer have been in constant contact regarding updates. So with all that said I look forward to any advice you guys might have for a noob and here is my (thus far) somewhat hasty timeline... [edit] Deleting timelime due to not keeping track of it anymore . Re: WA Housing Centre - The Vale, Aveley. 2Oct 08, 2014 10:15 pm Hello Hopalot, Glad to see your post. We are also building with WA Housing Centre in Annie's Landing. We are at the same stage as you, with our drafting completed on the 29/9! We look forward to reading about your progress and hope all goes smoothly. All the best with your build and will be reading about your progress! Both my husband and I are first home buyers and almost about to sign a contract with WA Housing Centre as they are having a special promotion going on now. What are your experiences so far? Would you recommend them? Would you build with them in the future? What are the things to look out for? Our sales Rep is really good, but it seems too good to be true especially after reading all the negative reviews of this company. They haven't won any awards in recent years either. Re: WA Housing Centre - The Vale, Aveley. 5Mar 19, 2015 2:27 am signed with WA Housing two years ago(come next month) and I am still waiting for my first PCI. It was great at the start with the sales lady but things went downhill from the day of prestart. The ****** and delay tactics.... I could go on..... Anyway, I have learnt to steer away from the whole BGC group as all the subsidiary companies share the same resources. I have been building with other companies in the past ten years and I must say this is the worst experience my wife and I have ever had, not to mention our financial losses due to all the delays. Buyers beware! Re: WA Housing Centre - The Vale, Aveley. 6Aug 05, 2015 11:50 pm Well its been almost a year since I posted this, I wish I was coming here to post good news, but unfortunately that's not the case. Despite a glorious administration phase the building has been a disaster from the start. It's been delay after delay after delay. There was a month wait to get our pad down, over a month to get a brickie on site, a month to get a carpenter out for roof timbers and we have just been informed there is a delay getting our roof tiles manufactured. We have been patient during the process until now... The building administrator is very apologetic and what not but that doesn't put a roof over our head, it doesn't pay the constant stream of bills... Getting into details will just make me angry, needless to say I've informed them I'll be calling them three times a week from now on to check progress, dates, times, trades, deliveries, ect. Hoping this will keep the timeline abit more honest but I have my doubts. At this point all I can do is pray we will get in before the end of the year, again, I have my doubts. BUYER BEWARE - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID WA HOUSING. Their sales people pitch unrealistic time frames, they rush you through administration to lock you in then let your build rot while they feed you excuses of having too many jobs on the go at once, like that's our fault.
