Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Eight homes- Doreen/Mernda/Epping 2Sep 25, 2014 10:22 pm row_007 Hi all, Has anyone here built with eight homes around the Doreen/Mernda/Epping area? We are tossing up between Henley and Eight and looking for opinions and advice. Thanks! Hi, Not sure if it helps but I have a work colleague that has just finished building with Eight homes in Mickleham. She's very happy with everything so far. Had a few issues during the build but nothing major. Cheers Re: Eight homes- Doreen/Mernda/Epping 3Sep 28, 2014 12:54 am Hi row_007, Know of Henley and if Eight Homes are big, it might not matter much. The main thing is to get quality building inspections along the way to ensure that the quality is better than average. The consultant you use should be capable, experienced, thorough and fit enough / sure footed enough to get on the roof and inside the roof or defects in those areas will not be adequately inspected. You would also benefit by asking the builder to include standard workmanship clauses (last 13 pages of for instance HIA Project and General Specification booklet) to give you an insight on what quality labour is all about and make the builder aware that you are interested. He might just put their best tradesmen on your job - not so good for the others perhaps. Anyway, good luck with your big adventure, Cheers, Leonardo_23 Re: Eight homes- Doreen/Mernda/Epping 4Sep 28, 2014 12:58 am Another thing I forgot row_007, Make sure your soil report recommendations are complied with, because perhaps a little to the west of your block, but some are I Doreen, many slabs were not very well constructed just a short while ago.
