Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 403Jul 21, 2015 6:16 pm I have been completely ignored :/ Went again this morning after dropping Charlotte to school (she started there this term) and cracks are gone....clearly they got my email and have been there. I will upload pics later on. We got an email saying drainage is being connected anytime from tomorrow and once connected they will deliver the frame and bricks and start work Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 404Jul 21, 2015 6:32 pm Well I guess it's good that they've fixed it but poor that you've not even had a response! Who are you building with again? Homestead were a but funny with us when we said we won't be paying the installments until we had inspected each section, for this exact reason. At least they know now we won't be making payment until we are satisfied with the job. Our framework was delivered today so will be interesting to see if it starts this week! Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 405Jul 24, 2015 6:06 pm We are going to soon start our build! We are ready for drawdown payments to start as soon as we have final council approval and a few other loose ends are tied up. Some things that have upset our plans are: 1. Our adjoining neighbour (Lot 55) has their frame going up - but their builder has dumped a huge mountain of debris/dirt onto our lot. Our builder has told us they need to move it ASAP - but I don't know who Lot 55 is or how to get in touch with them/their builder! 2. Because our block is wedge-shaped and narrow at the front, our driveway will have to remain on the left side - however, the Council/Devine decided to flip everyone's building envelopes so that the driveways are on the right. Since we can't do this - Devine have agreed to move the water services meter to the opposite side. Big issue now - two months on after they agreed to have it relocated and it's still there! Builder is eager for it to be moved before they start as their plumber will need to hook up the plumbing. So frustrated. Otherwise, getting excited - although didn't realise how expensive the deposit was for the rainwater tank installation. It's actually becoming an issue with all of the upfront deposits the external contractors require - honestly didn't know how much it could accumulate. Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 406Jul 24, 2015 6:24 pm Bummer about the unexpected dramas Ponders! we are on the other side of Lot 55 and all I know is that they are building with Devine... Maybe give them a call and they might be able to give you a contact Hopefully everything gets resolved quickly and doesn't cause any delays! It is getting exciting at this stage but also a little scary with payments starting and other costs... Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77368 Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 407Jul 25, 2015 2:37 pm ThePonders- I saw that mountain of dirt! Call Devine.
On a happy note-our bricks and skip were delivered yesterday-hopefully the framework was too after we left, so looks like we should have a frame and some brickwork by the end of next week! I hope so anyway as we go away for a week and I'll be sad if I miss that exciting bits! I also read a tip to photograph the walls before gyprocking, so you know where the studs are. Which we need to know for the shelving in the study, pantry and store rooms-so fingers crossed! treechange- building with states man. Im airly sure you have the right to check before paying?! I saw when I was there at 3pm yesterday they had laid out some of your framework on the slab, but it hadn't been started as such. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/brekkibel/20150725_8_zps0zlfi37o.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/brekkibel/20150720_39_zpsmknojb6v.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/brekkibel/20150717_170_zpsqv0xkn9j.jpg Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 408Jul 25, 2015 5:07 pm JakkiT as far as your boundary pegs are concerned spoke to my hubby and he says he has always understood it to be illegal to remove boundary pegs just check as they may have buried them under the dirt that was moved. Spoke to our builder about your dirt and it was going to create more problems than I need at the moment so we won't use it thanks anyway was a kind gesture. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 409Jul 25, 2015 6:05 pm No worries vogue Yes that's what we thought too! It was removed as it was thrown in our front yard! Not sure about where the others have ended up. I took photos showing it was removed and where it actually was-almost got burnt as some builders working on another block had a fire going in our 'driveway' and it was right next to the fire. I will ask our builder about it and hopefully they can sort it out as technically it's not for any of us to deal with, it should be between the builders. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 410Jul 27, 2015 1:12 pm Treechange01 who did you go through for your soil removal? We have just been quoted an extra $10k that now takes it to $18k but do need 650 tone removed. How exciting for all guys that have stated the build Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 412Jul 27, 2015 8:47 pm Thank you Treechange01 we will give them a call tomorrow Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 413Jul 27, 2015 8:51 pm Wow, that's a lot prutherford (of money and soil!) I'm guessing (hoping!) that because we have a fixed price contract we don't have to pay for that? Funny story, we found out that a friends brother does slab work and excavation etc so hubby called him to see if he could check out our slab and see if it's up to standards etc... After a quick chat they figured out that his crew actually laid our slab! So it was good because he told us in lots of detail how our slab was done and it turns out it should be extra good quality! Our block was rain damaged so they did an extra layer of mesh and used stronger concrete (32mpa instead of 25mpa) so nothing should move at all! Still waiting to find out about our tank installation (when it's happening) as it's still a muddy pond! Has anyone been given an end date now that things have started? We've been given a rough date of Jan which is a bit longer than we'd expected but i guess you can't rush these things! Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77368 Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 414Jul 27, 2015 10:04 pm Oh that's awesome Mahalia-ours was rain damaged too but I doubt we had anything extra done. Treechange, yes they started yours today Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 415Jul 28, 2015 8:57 am Oh thanks Jakki it's a real pain being 1.5 hours away! I'd be up there every day if we lived closer Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 416Jul 28, 2015 12:43 pm Treechange thanks for posting your soil removal guys name and no. as we just got a quote from our builder yesterday for ours and 260 tonne was going to cost us an extra $4290 but Simon has come in a lot cheaper. What are some of the other sites soil removal tonnage as for the small dig we have 260 tonne which sounds excessive also driveway rubble has anyone had better deals than provided by their builder for this? Builders certainly know how to bump up costs sometimes wish we had Subcontracted.. Katmeow currently do selections with Dechellis be prepared for more costs than quoted when you get your final contract, we should finish final selections on 13 Aug will let you know how it all went and extra costs so you can be prepared. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 417Jul 28, 2015 12:48 pm Treechange, Charlotte is in school there so if you ever want any info let me know as I am there twice a day M-F and I am happy to send you pics etc Vogue, we were quotes $4400 for soil from our builder and they haven't mentioned anything since. We received our first invoice today but it's just x % of the total so I am not sure on final figures BUT we haven't received a variation form from them so I guess it was all ok Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 418Jul 28, 2015 12:59 pm Oh thanks Jakki it's a real pain being 1.5 hours away! I'd be up there every day if we lived closer Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 419Jul 28, 2015 1:45 pm Thank u sooo much treechange for Simons number, he is going to sit down with us next week and tell us what needs to be done but his qoute over the phone came in heaps less than the builder's. Jakki what is the school like? Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 420Jul 28, 2015 1:54 pm So far so good, but it's only her second week. Kids seems friendly, teachers seem nice etc. In summer, if they can get enough parent spotters, they have PE in the pool! It has lots of good facilities too-more than the private school she went to from Reception until now (currently in yr 5). They do some different things like cooking, older kids organise the lunch orders/money etc, they can climb trees etc, so a bit more freedom Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24828 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 17869 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10035 |
