Did you go back and read everything? It's been really great getting to know our neighbors before we all get established down there Hopefully it will be a real little community and we'll find some new friends as well! We've enjoyed following your build as it seems that ours follows right behind so it's good to know what is coming next! Hopefully we will be on before Christmas - so excited! Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77368 Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 513Sep 20, 2015 8:45 am Many thanks to Mahalia for putting us in touch with Kristyn and Matt! Welcome, Kristyn! Nice to meet you - by the way, your house looks amazing! How long before you guys get to move in? What a great resource this forum is! Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 514Sep 20, 2015 10:53 pm How great you were able to contact each other and for you Kristyn and Matt to find this forum now hehe! Does anyone have much idea about retaining? Our neighbours uphill from us would like a quote to have it done, I've finally heard back from some people and it looks like our cost (just ours, not their portion) is 20-25k! We can't afford that! I'm going to see someone tomorrow with our plans and see if it is possible for us to do it ourselves and what the cost would be then. We have got our tanks connected now-fingers crossed they are far enough below the gutter for the sealed system to work! Also I hope for some good rain to fill them up a bit too. Our kitchen is finished now (until I order the new doors anyway-getting the 'barossa' style-and I'm in love! It's really bright in there at the moment and i can't believe how big it is- i've never even had a kitchen half the size before. Brett said someone was trying to open our doors to look inside today-they scared him briefly when the garage door swung open and he was right behind it lol. Was it any of you here?Lots of people driving up and down the street over the weekend-would love to know if it's anyone here, other others building or just people having a look lol! Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 515Sep 21, 2015 11:34 am Hi, Jakki! Regarding retaining, what are your dimensions? Is it one wall or two? I had quotes ranging from $6,500 to $12,000. What you've been quoted seems very expensive - unless I'm wrong, I can't imagine that your retaining would be that much different from ours. I'm at work now, but when I get home I will PM you with the names of some of the folks we had quote us up. That would be a little creepy having some random person having a look around your house! Wasn't us! I haven't heard of anyone in our development having any issues with break-ins like you hear about with some of the more urban developments. I do worry about it, though. Wonder if it would be worth installing a little cheap motion-sensitive camera? Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 516Sep 21, 2015 11:55 am That seems really expensive Jakki - scary! We haven't got any quotes yet but we're hoping to do a lot of the retaining ourselves.... Would be great to have some contacts though for quotes if we do need it, thanks Ponders. I'm guessing our retaining wall heights would be fairly similar so interesting to hear that the quotes differ so much! Not us at your place either, people can be quite nosy when there's no one there but I wouldn't have thought they would try and open doors (I wouldn't unless it was my own of course! ). We looked from our car, driving by... hope it doesn't happen to us when we're working up there I can imagine A reacting very well Those little cctv cameras can be picked up pretty cheaply, probably good for peace of mind. Though it's probably more people being nosey, rather than looking to steal, but then again who knows these days!! Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 518Sep 21, 2015 12:53 pm Thanks everyone! Yeah I am sure they were being nosy but it was a little strange, and I can't say I like the idea of people snooping through when it's at this stage. Not a problem if they come introduce and ask to look through though- wouldn't mind that in the slightest! That sounds a bit more reasonable Kristyn! What kind of height is yours? I've been speaking with more suppliers today and they think it's being way over quoted. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 519Oct 01, 2015 10:25 am We have a block on hold in the Nottage release. It is good to see some activity in there this week where they have surveyed the blocks and graded where the road will go. This forum has been great to follow as it shows us some things that are happening in the development. We are anxious for things to happen but need to sell our current home before the wheels get put into motion! Has anyone been there since Monday and seen what has been happening? Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 520Oct 07, 2015 10:59 am Welcome Bonython07, which lot number will you be? They haven't been doing alot there, just putting in some of the services I think. We are having handover about the 27th! Pretty excited!! All all jobs to be done after this week. Basins and toilets etc go in on Friday, then it's things like flyscreens, oven, silicone and just waiting for the mirrors and shower screens. Pre handover inspection is the 22nd. Very excited Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you.
