If you want any heads up on what to expect let me know and perhaps we could meet up and then tell you and show you what to watch out for. By the way we are doing the Grande version if that helps. Thanks Vogue, we are going with the Grand too and I added the silk finish cupboards also. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 482Aug 24, 2015 4:53 pm Hi Again katmeow yes the silk finish cupboards to the kitchen are standard with the Grande and adding that finish to the laundrey and bathrooms wasn't that bad it is that they then wanted over $4,000 for the soil removal from our block which has a very small slope (so we are going privately for that) it's the $700 for the surveyor even though the developer had the blocks surveyed that's not good enough and keep every bit of paper work you have received as they sometimes delete things you have already included so at final selections just have that all with you as they like to say things are an upgrade. Have you got a firm date when your developer is starting subdivision? Have you got a firm date when your developer is starting subdivision? Thanks Vogue, I have kept everything so far in a specific folder. We have told them that we don't want any soil removed as we will use some of it for garden beds and the rest a friend of ours has a property at kangarilla so he will take what's left over. Thanks for the heads up about the soil test. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 484Aug 27, 2015 1:59 pm How is everyone going? Our gyprock/plasterboard has been done (except for the eaves but there is none left so not sure what's going on there). Downpipes are in-so LOTS of water sitting against the slab. Our tanks are being delivered next Wednesday, so now we have to try and get permission/fight them to allow us to just lay some pipe to connect the tanks so the water isn't sitting against the house and so we have some water when we move in. I think it's roughly 8 weeks from now that it should be finished-hope so anyway. They haven't given us a date, it's just from watching others. Once handover is done we then have to have the hot water service installed, do all the flooring, get a tiler in to tile the kitchen splashback, retain and put fences up so we can have the driveway done otherwise our car wont get in as it's too low. We think we will get the driveway concreted as we have noticed some other in the area have moved already (paved ones). Then the fun begins-perimeter paving, removing 348756349857 tonnes of dirt from the back yard before landscaping.... It's nice to walk through and see it now the walls are up. Feels really small though-I'm a bit worried. The display homes seemed so much bigger Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 485Sep 01, 2015 9:23 am Jakki I think they always look small until they are painted & floored, but I remember thinking the exact same thing when I built last time. Went and had a nosy through all the builds last weekend, things are coming along nicely. Hears hoping we get through council in a timely manner hahaha! Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 486Sep 10, 2015 11:35 pm For anyone interested, spotlight currently have 40% off ALL blinds and curtains. We went and bought all our blinds today and saved $1100! Our painter started today, he did the eaves and he is going to try and get the ceilings done before the kitchen is installed next week. Power is being connected on the 19th, electricians should be early not next week but the week after I think and tilers on the 22nd. We are doing the carpets and hard flooring after handover so surely once it's painted there can't be much left to do?? Getting a bit real now! All going well I think it should only be 4-6 weeks away now? Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 488Sep 11, 2015 7:45 am That's great Jakki! What blinds did you go with? I need to go to Spotlight today so might have a look! Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77368 Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 489Sep 11, 2015 9:45 am We went with faux wood white venetians-i would love plantation shutters but they re out of our current budget Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 490Sep 11, 2015 9:47 am Sounds nice! I would loooove plantation shutter too but haven't even looked at prices! Will bedrooms be the same? Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77368 Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 491Sep 11, 2015 12:36 pm Plantations are about 2k per window! Crazy! We have 17 windows.... Yep I ended up doing the venetians on every windows even the laundry lol. For the sliding door though we got the panels curtains in white from ikea as the drop is 240cm and it was $800 for a blind for there Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 492Sep 12, 2015 9:42 pm Great news Jakki what a way to finish off the year with Christmas in your new house no wonder you are excited. We are currently trying to find a rental we can afford before settlement on our current property which is on the 25th Sept our build is still scheduled for Oct start. Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 493Sep 12, 2015 11:09 pm Yes fingers crossed it all goes to plan! I think Mahalia and her neighbour will also be in there around the same time as us? Ours was locked up yesterday Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 494Sep 15, 2015 6:33 pm We had a call today with some good news, we can now access our block and so the stormwater/connect the tanks, so we will be doing that this weekend. Hopefully we get some decent rain to fill them a bit! One internal wall had to be fixed today as it had a lean and the 2nd fix carpentry was completed today. Tomorrow the ceilings are being painted. Thursday the kitchen arrives and the joiner will be working through the weekend to have it completed by Tuesday then the tilers come in. After the tiling they measure and order the shower screens-they take 3 weeks?! So once they are ready the house will be completed and just those and the garage door will be done. He said in 2 weeks he will be able to give us an approximate handover 'window' Getting very exciting! How is everyone elses going? Mahalia - is your kitchen in? Got pics?? Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 495Sep 18, 2015 1:41 am Our cabinetry started today! http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/brekkibel/20150917_61_zpscdo2eimo.jpg All these overheads to go in http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/brekkibel/20150917_62_zpsxlcb2nko.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm163/brekkibel/20150917_64_zpsvtop5emn.jpg House is still full of dirt/mud... Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 496Sep 18, 2015 9:08 am Oh how exciting!!! I'm so jealous... Ours feels like it's taking FOREVER! Our kitchen is booked in for first week in October... Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 497Sep 18, 2015 9:50 am Your kitchen is huge Jakki!! Ours was meant to go in 2 weeks ago (along with our tanks)... I've heard that it will be in this week (but I'll believe it when I see it!). I don't have any pics as we haven't had time to go down there but hope to check it out next week Our build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77368 Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 498Sep 18, 2015 10:00 am We have been so lucky as we have had trades there everyday! Apparently we have all A class trades too (they apparently have groups from A-D) so fingers crossed it's all good. 2nd fix electrician and tiling is being done next week. Our painter has done all the finished all the ceilings and has undercoated the walls. Feels so much better with some paint in there. I was worried it was dark but the paint has helped alot. Treechange-do you have an estimated handover yet? Will you be in before Christmas? Mahalia, it is! I couldn't believe how big it was when I saw it yesterday! Moving the fridge to the pantry was our best idea I think. Oh what! I thought yours was well and truly in. Its your laundry on our side yeah? I think you have a bench in there...Want me to peek through some windows this afternoon? Ill be up there around 6pm as Brett is starting our pipes and needs to be picked up then Re: Is anyone building at Mawson Green, Meadows SA? 500Sep 18, 2015 11:31 am Yeah our laundry is on your side Jakki, I think you'd have to go around the other side to peek into the kitchen/living area - would be great if you have time!
