Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 23, 2014 2:00 pm Hello, I'm just a few weeks out from site start on my block and I've seen that another builder has dumped a large chunk of cement on my site. Too heavy to lift. A buddy and I tried to break it up with a big heavy iron bar but no luck there. It's about a meter long, half a meter wide and about 300mm high. I'm after a little bit of advise on the best way to deal with it. If I were to pay someone to take it away, who would generally do this? And how much would a reasonable amount be to get rid of it? any other advice? Apparently the sellers then called the council and the council sent people to remove the items. I'm not sure if the sellers had to pay the council or not, but they lodged a illegal dumping report at the same time. The representative stated without evidence of who dumped the items, there's not much they can do. They couldn't even recommend who would be the best person would be to come remove the item. Re: Big bit of cement dumped on my block 5Sep 25, 2014 2:06 pm If you haves look around, you can usually tell where this comes from. It's usually a nearby build or reno. We had a lot of concrete 'dregs' poured out on our block and we could always tell where it came from by the 'freshnesh', colour and coinciding with build events around us. As one builder was doing all the builds where it came from, it was easy to deal with ... I just rang the builder and told them to get rid of it and educate their contractors. Good luck working it out. It's just slack that people do this. Re: Big bit of cement dumped on my block 6Sep 25, 2014 2:11 pm What about ropes/straps and tow bar on car.. drag to foot path.. hi council there is a concrete on the foot path please come and get it... or ropes and few mates to drag it to the front of your block out of the way of the build and hope the builder grabs it upon site clean up? Re: Big bit of cement dumped on my block 7Sep 26, 2014 10:42 am Sorry not much can be done about this one if you have settled on the land. If you haven’t settled (paid for the land in full) in most cases the developer will have the concrete removed. Unfortunately this dumping happens very often and is annoying and very costly to our company as well. Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
