Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 23, 2014 12:10 pm I thought I might as well make a page for my build, I've been following a lot of other builds for long enough
I signed up in March with Celebration homes to build the Landon in Seascapes, Halls Head. Our land is 588m2 and is just around the corner from a couple good schools and a 10 minute walk to the beach We put the house hard on the boundary (the garage up against our neighbours garage) to leave a large gap at the side for extra parking, side access or a pool (I can dream...) Everything went super smooth (and super fast thanks to our build coordinator who was keen to help our chances of getting in for Christmas. We barely made any changes: -Double french doors to the home theatre -Upgraded benchtops to cesarstone in Kitchen, Ensuite and Bathroom -Raised ceilings in living/kitchen -Increased front door width to 1080 -Ducted RC aircon After that it was just things like towel rails, bigger floor tiles, the thickest plushest carpet they could do, plus a million lights and power sockets We went for charcoal coloured floors throughout, fingers crossed it works well! No window treatments or painting the walls, we will do that after key handover and the same for the gardens which are being done by a separate contractor a few months after Keys. Because I live about 5 minutes from the house I tend to visit everyday, which may or may not be a good thing. I suppose its good when everything is running smoothly, but not so much when its not... Our 24 week timeline isn't looking so flash for us getting keys by 8th December primarily due to the delay in getting a Brickie, so now I'm hoping for a christmas miracle Anyways, hopefully later I'll get some pics Here's our timeline so far: Site start list: 13th May 2014 Site clean up: 26th May 2014 Slab down: 23rd June 2014 Bricks delivered: 8th July 2014 Brick work started: 15th August 2014 Brick work finished: 15th September 2014 Roof started: 22nd September 2014 Roof finished: 9th October 2014 Grey Float finished: 14th October 2014 Windows done: 17th October 2014 White set finished: 21st October 2014 Ceilings installed: 29th October 2014 Cornices: 3rd November 2014 Doors and Shelving: 6th November 2014 (lockup yay ) Ceilings painted: 7th & 10th November 2014 Cabinets installed: 11th & 12th November 2014 Garage Floor: 12th November 2014 Tiling started: 14th November 2014 Tiling finished: 20th November 2014 Electrics, kitchen appliances, extractor fans: 21st November 2014 Plumbing: 21st November 2014 Laundry counter refitted in correct colour: 24th November 2014 Internal doors, frames etc painted (again): 26th November 2014 Pavers delivered: 26th November 2014 Main floor Tiling: 27th November 2014 Cabinet colours fixed: 28th November 2014 External painting started: 4th December 2014 Aircon fitted: 5th December 2014 Carpets: 8th December 2014 Pavers: 8th and 10th December 2014 PCI: 10th December 2014 Fly screens: 10th December 2014 Re: Celebration homes - Landon - in Seascapes, Halls Head 2Sep 25, 2014 12:11 pm Re: Celebration homes - Landon - in Seascapes, Halls Head 3Sep 25, 2014 2:09 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Brickies started!! Just wanted to know what carpet you picked as I was looking at carpet yesterday and I think the builders range that comes with the contempo range feels like sandpaper, hopefully you can point me in the right direction https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72792&start=0 Re: Celebration homes - Landon - in Seascapes, Halls Head 6Sep 27, 2014 10:27 pm When you put it like that, it all seems very quick and simple! Love your little home tour guide. Your changes sound good. What height did you raise the ceilings to? http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Celebration homes - Landon - in Seascapes, Halls Head 7Sep 29, 2014 10:24 pm nessy-lou hi becksyfreemo your place looks like it is coming along nicely! Just wanted to know what carpet you picked as I was looking at carpet yesterday and I think the builders range that comes with the contempo range feels like sandpaper, hopefully you can point me in the right direction Thanks Nessy-Lou We upgraded the carpets to the thickest for a cost of around $2500 for the house. It was the 3rd level upgrade range with rubber underlay to Bedrooms, Home Theatre, Games & Rear Passage in California Gully 2 Colour #9 (which was a very dark grey). I thought the standard carpets were awful. Even the first level upgrade was rough so we went all out Re: Celebration homes - Landon - in Seascapes, Halls Head 8Sep 29, 2014 10:26 pm housebythewater When you put it like that, it all seems very quick and simple! Love your little home tour guide. Your changes sound good. What height did you raise the ceilings to? Hi housebythewater We went for 31c in the living room/kitchen/dining room. It feels really high!! I was really surprised at the difference when going from a standard height room to the living room. I was amazed. Yesterday the joins were started so the roof should almost be finished (pics to follow) We have had the electrics put in (along with those million power points). My CC said plastering starts early next week, followed by white set after its dry and lock up estimated for the first week of November... if there was a smiley/emoticon which expressed "fingers crossed" I would plaster it everywhere. We are also about the same stage as you and we are also hoping for a Christmas miracle... guess we just need to wait and see. Hi Burns I had a peek at your build blog. Your house looks great, love the size of the kitchen I've heard that companies are very keen on getting builds done in time for xmas (maybe it goes towards an end of year bonus or something) Do you have a lot of work to do after handover? We have to paint the walls, get lights fitted and install window treatments so if we don't get the keys by the 15th December we will really struggle to get in on time! Fingers crossed for us both Re: Celebration homes - Landon - in Seascapes, Halls Head 20Oct 28, 2014 1:56 am hey becksyfreemo. it looking good! You at the stage i loved, they changes make such a big impact. I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9524 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 17512 Ask for references and speak to them.
