Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 22, 2014 12:36 pm Hi, We live on a sloping block. Our neighbour, who lives on the lower block than ours, has been building for the last 1.5 years. As part of the construction he has cut the land which has increased the difference in heghts of the two blocks on the adjoining boundary. This has resulted in the land on our side of the fence unsecured which is gradually washing away. He has put retaining walls in some sections which I suppose were done by the builder. There is still vast section which has no retaining walls at all. Everytime we tried to speak with the ower he just brushes it away. There are cracks appearing on our side on the concrete which is also reasonably new (2 years) which may be due to this lack of retention of soil. What can we do. Any suggestions. Re: Retaining walls 2Sep 22, 2014 1:01 pm Contact your shire, we are building and we are told that we are responsible for retaining walls as we are on the lower side and we are not allowed to undermine the neighbors house pad so we need to terrace the retaining wall on that side. Your shire may be able to come and inspect the property. Re: Retaining walls 3Sep 22, 2014 4:56 pm Hi winner Photos will help and also where are you building? The council will help with site plans which should show Finished Levels, Datums, Retaining walls heights and details etc..... that should be your starting point. If you are concerned with any aspect of the structural intergrity (concrete) contact an Engineer.. the Councils Building Engineer should advise you the same.HTH Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Render your bathroom walls, two opinions versus the one, makes you wonder. 3 6042 The spacing of the studs looks pretty large especially for a load bearing wall. 3 11104 Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs. This… 10 11731 |
