Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 06, 2008 2:57 pm My neighbour has sent me a quote for the 24 metre fence between our blocks
1950mm paling fence with 1 rake - $ 43.00 per meter (my 1/2 share would be $21.50 per meter) Can someone advise whether this price is reasonable? Bit worried as he says the quote is from a 'family member' Re: Fence quote - is this reasonable? 2Jun 06, 2008 2:58 pm Just ask him to make you side of the fence shorter
EDIT: Actually I should just add... if he's getting his brother in-law or someone to do it, you could be springing the cost of the whole thing! Alan and Thuy in Melbourne Building a second time! That's why I'm worried! vanderlay whats a "rake"? I think it means that the fence is made shorter towards the front (to comply with estate guidelines) Re: Fence quote - is this reasonable? 5Jun 06, 2008 3:20 pm Duminda I think it means that the fence is made shorter towards the front (to comply with estate guidelines) Thanks! The actual price seems reasonable - just a matter of if he's giving a discount on the "other half" Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Fence quote - is this reasonable? 8Jun 07, 2008 12:37 pm Thanks for the advice guys.
We got quotes ourselves, but didn't get anything better than $43, so we're going with the neighbours' contractor. Re: Fence quote - is this reasonable? 9Jun 07, 2008 12:43 pm I'd be asking him if his "family member" is giving him a discount.. I'd hate to think that you're paying the whole cost because he's doing it half price Alan and Thuy in Melbourne Building a second time! Re: Fence quote - is this reasonable? 10Jun 07, 2008 3:04 pm at least you'll know it will be a good job since it's family.......i think Re: Fence quote - is this reasonable? 11Jun 07, 2008 8:15 pm Toast I'd be asking him if his "family member" is giving him a discount.. I'd hate to think that you're paying the whole cost because he's doing it half price Already did ... he said no, and faxed me the quote; I guess I'll have to trust him on that one. His price is about 10% cheaper than anybody else's so I guess the discount is already included there. As sammy said, at least he'll do a good job Seems good to me. I've been told $4-5k/sqm is reasonable in Perth. 2 11145 hey there! π so, itβs kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20890 I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14303 |
