Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 19, 2014 3:31 pm Hi We got a sales quotation contract with some items are quoted ridiculously low like $2 and $5. I am pretty sure they are incorrect. Under each item, there is a note saying that the price is approximate only and the final price would be confirmed during the tender contract. Now, if I sign the contract, if the price during the tender turns out to be much higher, do we get to pay what was quoted on the sales quotation contract? Or do we oblige to pay the tender contract (the much higher price). It's their fault for quoting the wrong price at the first place. Please advise. Thanks. Re: Sales Quotation contract - wrong price quotes 2Sep 19, 2014 3:58 pm Hi ikesan, Sounds like a trick to me; to lure you in with their low total figure. Estimates mean they do not have to stick to it I believe. Quote means they have to stick to it basically but when they include provisos that sounds like a trick, just like low PC amounts in contracts, worth sorting out later, because they are allowed to be over the amount in the contract by quite a percentage. Hope this helps and good luck deciding. A bit of homework might reveal how ridiculous their figures are where they state that the figures are approximate only. Re: Sales Quotation contract - wrong price quotes 4Sep 19, 2014 9:32 pm Hi Thanks for the replies. My friend told me that i should just sign the contract because the price quoted is much lower than the real price, but i wouldnt want to risk it. The last thing I want is to go to the tender only to find out that the price is way beyond what was originally stated. In general, what is how accurate a sales quotation should be? Is 90% accurate acceptable? Thanks Re: Sales Quotation contract - wrong price quotes 7Sep 28, 2014 8:05 am My guess is that your $2 and $5 respectively, may be per metre considering they are skirts and cornice. As far as approximates go, it's only an estimate so no need to sign anything. Once it's at tender, that will be the price you'll pay. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
