(I don't come up that way often ) big brand outlet is the name. Damn about the dining table, it's so hard to find the right bits, I'm trying to hard to find the right couches, one is sorted but the other is giving me grief. A modular or a 3 seater sofa and 2 arm chairs???? Mr t has a 5k landscaping budget above the fencing costs, that should be ok yeah? Basically been everywhere on the Northside I think I've found sofas we want just been putting off ordering. It depends is that to include driveway? Because you're looking at $50-$70 per m2 for concrete for driveway, turf you're looking at $3m2 plain cooch up to $10m2 sir Walter. Plants you would pickup most plants in a 200mm wide pot for about $10-15 per plant. If you're doing decking that usually works out $150m2 if using a good hardwood like merbeu etc. The money can dissapear fast! I don't have a budget for landscape except for the driveway I did everything else I just buy as its needed but being thrifty by getting plants off friends and doing cuttings etc as well as seed instead of turf or minimal turf to get it going. Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Final Pics pg. 1188Sep 08, 2015 5:28 pm We had a front fence quote on the weekend for a rendered block fence which I should hear back about soon... Really want it done it scared it may be way to expensive as we have 45m frontage so would be fairly long. But I think it would really finish off the look of the house! Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Final Pics pg. 56! 1189Sep 08, 2015 6:07 pm Am thinking about driving up to the bbo, it's a damn mission though so I'm trying to find out if it's worth the effort? Think I might hit up freedom instead. I refuse point blank to take our kid festy, disgusting couches to the new house . Nup driveway funds where included in our building mortgage. It's being boxed up tomorrow and poured on Saturday. $5350 for our exposed agg driveway, adjoining pad to portico and path right down beside the garage. I'm keen to look into the spray on lawn stuff shannii got??? No decking or extra concrete that's a separate budget, I've set another budget for the back alfresco and laundry pad. 5k for grass and plants. I'll go to the wholesale nurseries too. I had grand plans of growing cuttings but life got to hectic . Oh god damn that fence sounds amazing but I don't think I would like the invoice, landscaping stuff is so damn expensive How are you finding the seed? Is it patchy or nice and thick? Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Final Pics pg. 1190Sep 08, 2015 10:06 pm The front where it gets a lot of water (HSTP) is going really well. I will take a pic for you in the morning. The rear where its relying on rainfall is not to bad but fairly sparse looks a bit like a mid 30's balding man sort of thing going on. I'm confident though by next summer should be pretty filled in. The front will be totally filled in by Xmas I reakon the rate its going. I do have a bit of bindi coming up so need to find doe thing to get that out and I've bought some weed and feed to do the larger side and back areas that have the original grass to try make that nice and healthy so it spreads into the rest. So far it's actually going better than I expects my total outlay on grass seed is $76 and the front is a good 800m2 I reakon and that's taken really well so worth it just for the front area Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Final Pics pg. 1191Sep 08, 2015 10:10 pm You may find the hydro mulch may not be worth it if it's not a big enough area too. If it was me and I was on a 800m2 or smaller block (last one was 790m2) I would bite bullet and get sit Walter pending the quantity you could get it around the $8 mark it really is worth it beautiful grass. I still have a long term plan of doing sir Walter but in stages after the rest has done I just wanted grass ASAP cheapest way possible until everything else is done but if I'm still here in 10yrs I hope the whole yard will eventually be sir Walter. There is a house down the road on 3000m2 and his entire lawn front and back and side is sir Walter it looks absolutely beautiful but we are talking a $20,000 lawn! Cheapest I can find in Vic is $12. Have a link you can share? Wouldn't mind checking it out to see if they deliver to Vic. Was going fake turf... Thought the delta was only a couple dollars more, but when I looked into it more realised it was more like $30 per m more, excluding prep and install (even doing myself) so might be going back to turf. We have Sir Walter in old place, lovely stuff! My Waldorf 48 Blog: http://gisbornewillows.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Final Pics pg. 1193Sep 09, 2015 8:24 am Here is the grass progress. I used 8kg of seed over approx 2000m2 in July. It lay dormant for 1-2 weeks with winter then sprouted. Here is the front its taken the best as it gets water every day with my HSTP effluent disposal area it did start like the back though so I do hold hope the back will also thicken up. Here is a shot of the front still a bit patchy but from a distance its looking very green, keeping in mind this was literally dirt mid July. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Zoomed in: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the back which is solely relying on rain to water I haven't hand watered at all, it will take longer but should thicken up over spring and summer with more rain and warmth, I think I will give the back another 3-4kg of seed in about a fortnight just to give it the best chance I can. Zoomed out: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Zoomed in: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Considering the area if this does take and does thicken well into a lawn I would have saved myself about $6,000 in turf costs. I figure even if I can get a majority of the area going with seed and just patch next spring with some bits of turf it would still be worth the exercise. We have Sir Walter in old place, lovely stuff! Im up in QLD I paid $8.80 in 2011 for 120m2 but when I enquired this year most places wanted $10.90 but did find 2 places one at Caboolture and one at Jimboomba who would go $8.80 if I was going 1000m2 in quantity. I have a feeling they have all got together and have some sort of price fixing thing going on because a lot have rebranded and very hesitant to sell below that $10 mark where as in 2011 just about everyone was going for $8 regardless of quantity. It's annoying because I really want it. I am considering buying 50-100m2 and harvesting my own because my HSTP area is moist all the time it would be ideal (600m2ish area) to cut the sir Walter to strips like they do at turf farm and grow it together I reakon I could turn 100m2 into 600m2 within 1 year then hire a turf cutter to harvest for the back and do it all again another 1-2 times over 2-3yrs and get a whole 3000m2 house block done in sir Walter that is my long term plan any way Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Final Pics pg. 1195Sep 09, 2015 10:49 am Looking good! I wish we could have seeded but I don't think it would ever grow with our dogs not to mention having an impatient hubby haha we still saved ourselves thousands from turf though so that's good. My build viewtopic.php?t=76386 I would have liked a quicker solution as we are having our daughters birthday party in October and the idea of 20 odd 5yr olds running through dirt and in house is frightening. So I'm hoping and praying for some rain in next 4 weeks to speed some back growth up! Get a turf cutter and 'slice and dice' it to transplant elsewhere, and over a couple of years all should be rather nice. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld.
