Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Plan's with Cou 42Oct 16, 2014 10:38 am Treeseachanger If it's any consolation, its definitely the better system. No evaporation and if you plant natives, most prefer drip watering... my only concern is we will have to pre-plan gardens which i loath to do before house is finished as the last house we changes gardens 2-3 times over the first year to get our landscaping the way that suited the house and block best. But i do agree it would be better to not have the spinklers just hoping it doesn't add alot of extra cost Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Plan's with Cou 43Oct 31, 2014 3:13 pm No real updates.. we have received our full colour sheet so spending the weekend checking it over. We also went to Beacon lighting to check the range out and did a lighting plan, but wasnt too fussed with alot of their lights so will look at a few other places.. Biggest update is we received our sample for our 600x600 floor tiles, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Can't wait to see them laid! Thanks Bonnie_p we really wanted something 'different' that hadnt been built before and was custom to not only our needs but needs of anyone with a family that might buy it in the future, incorporating 'wings' for sleeping and for entertaining to keep both separate if required.. I have tile envy, big time Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Council Approve 49Nov 20, 2014 8:08 am Well a bit of excitement yesterday! After nearly 5 week of waiting and 3 requests for information from the council back and forth (no idea why they can't identify the 3 things at once instead of having to send back and forth 3 times!) we finally have council approved plans! This should hopefully mean we start our site scrape within a week or so... from there we are told we should have a slab around 5 days after the site scrape then we can finally see some action! I admire your taste so that is a real compliment MrsBee Well a bit of excitement yesterday! Sounds like our council, they hate streamlining their work, might make them actually look efficient Whoohoo for action!!! I will be following your thread. We are building on ac acreage in Greenbank, Brisbane and I was just wondering how much is it going to cost you to render the whole house as we are thinking to do the same but post handover and our house is 42Sqs single story Re: Our semi acreage 'Forever House' Build - Council Approve 52Nov 20, 2014 4:03 pm Ru2014 What a beautiful home you are building, Mr and MrsBee. I have just been reading through your thread. I will be following your thread. We are building on ac acreage in Greenbank, Brisbane and I was just wondering how much is it going to cost you to render the whole house as we are thinking to do the same but post handover and our house is 42Sqs single story Hi Ru2014 thanks for the kind words, to be honest i couldn't tell you how much the rendering was as it was just part of the overall cost derived from our original design brief, so it was always something that was happening not a lets see how much it is and decide... as it turns out the builders standard was Rockcote Acrylic Render with the colour mixed in which i hadnt heard of before but after seeing it applied it was a faultless consistent finish and has more flex than cement render and a guarantee of 15yrs on it on the few houses we saw from this builder the render finishes were impeccable. On the other hand we saw another house who elected to have render applied after hand over (metricon build) due to the cost at construction they were quoted and i know they paid $4800 to have a 300m2 house exertior cement rendered and painted by tradies after handover however i was shocked that no down pipes were removed or fixtures to the house with some things rendered over or upto the fixture and a generally rough job with some uneven patches throughout... i guess with something like render the old adage you get what you pay for may ring true unless you fond a tradie who takes pride in their work and will do it at a low cost... I do know when we were first looking into builders Plantation wanted $30,000 to render a 320m2 low set house so i do believe some project builders do take a bit of liberty in their rendering prices and would be well worth investigating having it done after completion but i would personally remove all fixtures from the brick work before they start and reattach after for the cleanest job after seeing how lazy some renders could be if doing a cheap job.
