Hahah.....6--7 months? If i don't count the delay from earthwork, we are 3.5 months into the build and still far from reaching the lockup stage. Given the poor organization, and delay every step of the way, I would be dreaming for this timescale. Nice work on the paving! Geez...if D is doing the business, we'll be hiring him. or he wants side cash? Just kidding. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And on the subject of the driveway, we received some unexpected and much appreciated good news in Friday's post (the cranky postie day). Unbeknownst to us, and after everything was obviously paid for and we are happily settling into our new house, the bosses at DS (and presumably CL) had a meeting and discussed what happened with our driveway (cringing at the memory of my huffy email to my CLO). The outcome of that discussion was their decision to REFUND us for the cost of the driveway labour! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've never heard of a building company having what I can only describe as, well, scruples! I really am impressed with DS. Our sales rep Micky was kind, intuitive, innovative and resourceful, our CLO Rochelle was funny, efficient, friendly and attentive and our SS Brad was so good at scheduling that I can't recall a single week, other than the Christmas/New Year break and one or two weeks when the porch needed re-doing and we had to get the trades back, that something significant didn't occur on site. And he had the build running so smoothly that there were often two or three trades on site all working simultaneously because they are trades that can work around each other! In my building design course the major part of the supervisory section was scheduling and it is quite an art to get it right. Needless to say I sucked at it so I worked in civil engineering instead haha. Anyway, I may sound like a paid advertisement but I really do want it known how highly I regard the people who worked on our build as part of the DS team because I found it such an exciting and enjoyable experience. I feel so lucky that we landed the CLO/SS duo we did because they were so fantastic. And a big shout out to all the tradies too because our house is finished to a very high standard and we've used everything now with no hitches. Super super happy!!! The PAX wardrobe in our Bed will be 3.5m long, and I'm using the BERGSBO doors. I do really love the look of these particular mirrored doors (not IKEA): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I saw an IKEA HACK where somebody got mirrors cut to size and glued them securely in the BERGSBO doors so that they resembled those doors above that I really like. I'm thinking of doing a combination of regular BERGSBO and my own mirrored BERGSBO doors, sort of like this (but ours will be 3.5m wide) and using mirrored sections instead of the frosted sections: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Does anyone else think it's a nice look? Who knows I probably won't do it anyway once the doors are on because they are really nice as they are. Still interested to know what anyone else thinks though so if you have an opinion let me know. Our current apt uses frost ikea wardrobe. You really have to put your clothes neatly. Otherwise, one can still see through it being messy! Do mirror, will make yiur room looks larger. Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76782 Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart (DRIVEWAY UPDATE!) 510Jul 13, 2015 10:48 pm Yay for a nicely finished driveway! How lovely Em glad something was refunded, was going to ask about that. Your house looks lovely and homely like Sofia said I agree with her too - mirrors will make your room look bigger too - and I do like the mirrored look like in the first pic. I'd just be a bit careful if you were planning to stick them on top of the timber - we rented a house where someone did that - albeit with larger almost door size mirrors - and they all fell off eventually. So just make sure you get something to stick it on securely! Re: Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart (DRIVEWAY UPDATE!) 511Jul 13, 2015 11:53 pm MalSannie Yay for a nicely finished driveway! My wardrobes are always messy so no way am I doing that. Re them falling off, if I do it I will be prepping the door surface first and using a very strong adhesive like liquid nails to secure them. Could be a pipe dream. I like to refer to myself in these types of moods as a "Gunna" i.e. "I'm gunna do this" or "I'm gunna do that". Probably end up doing neither! Although it's not necessary I'm keen to have a small retaining wall joining up to the letterbox. We have to box in the water tap and build up the Telstra pit that some genius has put in lower than kerb level anyway so we aren't limited by those heights. I've got an idea in my head that includes a hedge on the top level of the little wall (which would be rendered and painted the house colour), agapanthus & seaside daisy in front of that, and two or three Ornamental Pear trees behind the hedge. I'm tossing up between a Cottonwood Hibiscus hedge and Orange Jessamine (Murraya). What do you think? Hibiscus: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In bloom: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Murraya: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ In bloom: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Both are suitable in this area. The Murraya grows fastest and can get nice and tall but I just love the purple leaves on the Hibiscus plus those tropical yellow flowers are to die for. It's not out of the question that I use both, one in the front yard and the other the back. In that case I think the Murraya would be better lining the fence out the back as the hibiscus are wider (and space on the block is an issue). Hmmmmm.....
