Your living room looks nice and spacious and airy but comfy at the same time. I love the idea for the tv stand, think I may copy that! Regarding the plants - they both look lovely and in fact my Mum has already bought one of the hibiscus for me too because I love it so much - and for the same reason. The beautiful purple leaves and yellow flowers. And apparently it grows pretty quickly too They're gorgeous. I think the one my mum got for me will go in the front - where the footpath meets the corner lot's high retaining wall I think (where the portaloo is now) I've never heard of the other one you list - and that is beautiful too! I wouldn't know which to choose to be honest - the 2nd one does look more neat and hedgy if that makes sense! And they can be pruned to become tree shaped or dense hedges. I think for the front they're my fave choice, for the foliage colour alone. I know what you mean about the Murraya being "hedgy"- they look like they need to be pruned a lot to make them look any good. They both have lovely blooms but those hibiscus flowers, so tropical! Just to remind us we're at the beach. Perfect! I know exactly where you mean to plant yours Mal, I went and had a stroll past yours yesterday to see what I'd missed. Again, your ceilings are fantastic! From what I could tell on my very brief visit (because I always feel like a stalker so I'm in an out like a flash) the pipe that belonged on the other side of that wall has been fixed but I didn't see a kitchen bulkhead yet. They've done a site clean and the interior looks to have been swept out too. No cement delivery for the grey coat but the renderers might be the ones who bring it, I've noticed in this street different builders do it different ways. They're certainly ready for it. The renderers will do the external rendering at the same time so they're probably waiting for a half decent weather forecast. You're not missing any lovely weather that's for sure. Every winter comes along and it reminds me of the "four seasons in one day" line- I forget every year and then July/August comes and reminds me. Pinch and a punch for the first of the month by the way. Last month of Winter! Can't wait to see mine. thanks for giving me the idea of storing The ironing board. Hmm...I wonder if we actually have space outside our laundry to hang clothes. I might have to get the done laundry basket to the other side of the house. We have similar taste. I was also thinking to get those cabinets for the TV and in the living room. Then, hubby reminded me that we will have a crawling and curious little one soon. If we have open cabinets like this, we will be busy putting stuff back in all the time. I like hibiscus. Envy that u have a big front yard to decorate. After adding paving, we won't have much front garden anymore. We might end up having one at the back side. Have a look at our front, do you tihnk the land developer will put a fence in front of our house? We have a gate put up. The next door neighbour land is level with the street, though. Timeline: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=76782 Yanchep WA Build with Dreamstart (DUAL LETTERBOXES HAHAHA) 527Aug 02, 2015 7:15 pm Hmmm I think the developers will fence the whole lot for you Sofia, they will have a fence theme in the development most likely. If you want a side gate to separate front and back yards that's the only thing you have to do yourself. You can probably put in your application when DS have all the stuff installed inside your house that they need easy access for. Unless you don't mind moving in without a fence for a while. We had to have the fence and gate first because we have dogs and kids. The gate quotes were over $1100 and had a six week wait. Dean made this one himself in a day for about $300. If we add up the driveway crossover saving of $500, the gate $800 saving and the letterbox saving of $400 Dean's been quite handy to have around...! I think I will keep him. Haha - you don't have to feel like a stalker ever - I feel honoured that you're interested at all Soon we'll hopefully be at lockup and there is no way in hell that my folks will ever go near the house when there is a tradie in residence. So we'll only ever have a few through the window photos too. So if ever you're in the area and feel like being a bit nosey I would really appreciate it They were there today I'm about to post some pic updates - but it was quite funny, they were behind the house talking pics of all the taps/wires etc and as she went around the corner looking towards the front there was someone using the portaloo - door open! It was a tradie from another build - she thought it was very funny and didn't think he knew of them being there. She should have taken a pic Love the side gate - I was going to ask where you got it from grrrrr so we can't just buy one ourselves! I'm afraid we're not very DIY'y . You're expecting lots of post then?? It looks great - yes, you should definitely keep him! I would have loved the aluminium custom made ones but they were so expensive and such a long wait. This one is ridiculously good I have to say. You just buy one of the extendable gate frames and build on the front of it. This ones incredibly sturdy but that's Dean's doing- he doesn't do anything by halves. Suspect this gate would survive an earthquake....! I will be happy to sticky beak through the window for you! I even checked out Sharry's the other day, haven't had a chance to tell her yet. So Sharry if you're reading this, your house is going to be bloody HUUUUUGGGGE you lucky thing! Once HGWA pull their finger out that is. You're both going to have lovely houses and on the better side of Marmion too!!! Jelly! Haha omg doing a wee that's hilarious! I have a pic to show you on that subject. The artist is an autistic man called Tim Sharp and his art is very "literal". I purchased five of them ages ago and still haven't put them up yet as they're not all framed. Your living area looks so lovely and side gate is great. I had a hedge of the Orange Jessamine. The leaves are glossy all year round and the flowers smell divine. Thanks Rache. It's cosy. I've shifted the furniture a bit and the room looks even better. I think I like not having my dining table here (I sold it because I need a narrower version) and just four stools instead. Now we can't have anyone over for dinner hahaha!!!!! Thanks for letting me know about the flowers on the murraya/orange jessamine. I'm torn now! I do love a fragrant flower though. Tell me Rache, was it a reasonably fast-growing hedge? Smiley77 I really like your TV unit, might steal that I need a gate like that for my rear laneway access. Haha no worries I'm surprised how many people have said the same thing when they've come around or on H1. It was a means to an end when you collect board games like I do! Actually it looked much nicer in the old house before I lost a heap of the storage boxes that fit in the squares. Re the gate, you can build it yourself if you have the tools and patience, will save you a tonne of money. Have a look ^^^^ at my reply to MalSannie above. Jools I have a cottonwood hibiscus and it is a PITA. grows like a weed, forever chopping it back and it drops leaves all the time. I will take it out soon as I dont like it. Thanks for your candour Jools! I like that! Now I really AM torn. I love the colour of the foliage but I don't have time for a PITA plant (let alone ten of them). Eeeeeek! On that note my handy hubster has been at it again. Now we have a schmicko rendered planter box outside our bedroom window. It's been built lower than sill level on purpose because it should then make the window look bigger/lower than it really is. You see I actually wanted that window sill level to be a brick course lower than it is but the draftsman seemed to have a stubborn side and I ended up giving up on my request to change it. So now I'm hoping all of the design tricks I learnt doing my diploma (and watching too many Selling Houses Australia episodes) will pay off. I think it already looks bigger! Do you need to waterproof the planter if it is against the house? Which design diploma was this PerthAussie? I want to go on it too lol Hmmm am actually going for low plants and am staying away from the architectural ones. I'm a big fan of "messy" contemporary plants that will hang over the edge and of the ones that do well in Perth I'm thinking of going for a mix of seaside daisy, alyssum, snow in summer and grape hyacinth: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Might throw a couple of rocks in there to give them something to grow over eventually. I'm a big fan of agapanthus but their root structure is so strong and they multiply so much that they could end up pushing over the planter walls if I didn't stay on top of them. So I'm planning now on having the orange jessamine hedge, garden beds full of the agapanthus/seaside daisy/alyssum etc and a couple of ornamental pear trees. They're all chosen using the water corp water wise plant selector, just in case you're looking for advise on what to plant in different areas. http://www.watercorporation.com.au/save ... AihV8P8HAQ Re the waterproofing we looked into it and the render and paint on the wall will be fine to act as waterproofing apparently. Ha! You wouldn't know it but I actually did an advanced diploma in building design. Makes you an architectural draftsman. Which is why I found it so not-funny to be arguing with a draftsman about moving my ensuite toilet so it didn't face the street given if it were me spitting out the same old boring floor plan over and over again I'd be gagging for a chance to change something around!!!
