Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Colours! 41Oct 09, 2014 9:42 pm Hello there We were charged extra to lay our main floor tile as they are porcelain with rectified edges. For the Haven Light Charcoal tile I think we paid extra for labour as we upgraded the size to 300x600. Cost wise, in the main bathroom where we only have the Haven Light Charcoal on the floor it cost us an extra $150 in upgrades, so not a whole lot. The ensuite where we ran it up the wall as well, was around $800. I didn't think the Haven Light Charcoal in Shine finish came in 300x300? In exciting news, our plans were picked up by the drafters today, so hopefully we will have our final plans next week! Eek! Inching ever closer... It doesn't come in shine.. did Clarendon allow you to put the 300x600 on the shower floor? I thought they wouldn't let you put bigger than a 300x300 on the shower floor? Oh that is not too expensive.. its a nice tile.. worth the upgrade. Do you think it would look just as good to put the normal 450x450 on the floor and the 300x600 up the wall of the shower? I like your hypercube also.. was that expensive? Im assuming its just the cost of the tile as its standard size so shouldn't be more labour?? Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Colours! 44Oct 10, 2014 1:45 pm We are getting 300x300 on the shower floor. If you get the 450x450 on the floor and 300x600 on the wall, I would definitely make sure you upgrade to the coloured grout so the size difference isn't so noticable. I think then it would look fine. The Hypercube we are only getting as our powder room splashback, so it was only around $45. It's so frustrating waiting for things to happen! Atleast you can plan your build while waiting for your land to register, then hopefully things can happen quickly onced the registration goes through. Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Colours! 45Oct 11, 2014 8:21 pm Hey... did you change your skirtings and doors to white to go with the Gemini Silver on your walls?? I believe its not cheap to do that but wondered if it would look better?? Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Colours! 46Oct 16, 2014 5:20 pm We stuck with the Gemini silver. We have already spent enough money and figure it's something we can do down the track if we aren't happy. Our final plans came back yesterday. Of course there are a few things wrong so hopefully they are quickly fixed. Can't wait till building starts! Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Colours! 47Oct 20, 2014 8:28 am Curious about your kitchen colours/splashback since we look like we are using the same colours. We have our colour selection Thursday I have an idea in my head what we are doing tile/colour wise.. that might all change by then hahaha. Let me know what you go with Sue was very helpful with our colour selections. I'm still not 100% on my splashblack colour, kind of think maybe we should have gone with a lighter colour, but we are having a window splashback so it will only be around the window. Too late to go back now! Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Colours! 49Oct 24, 2014 12:28 pm So they won't approve 400x400mm on the shower floors (even though a friend building with clarendon had 450x450 approved 2 weeks ago for hers....so there goes my tile selection out the window because they don't come in a 300x300. Had our colours.. went well (except for the tiles) Kitchen Classic White bottom cabinets Luna White stone top Cavia Lini over heads with a 300x100 satin charcoal in a stackbond splashback The downstairs bathroom has a polar white cabinet with tornado stone top and upstairs all have cavia lini cabinets with luna white tops... not sure what tiles now..back to square one with those as the floor tiles i was using had matching wall tiles we were using but now can't use the floor tiles unless i put something else on the shower floor.. which i don't want to do as it will look funny.. Suggestions??? Details on tiles are on this sheet. My color selection consultant (at coral) didn't really care about my tile selections, only the color. Seems like a poor excuse to me. Suggestions??? Sounds like you picked well Were you at Clarendon yesterday morning? We came in to sign our final plans so might have been there at the same time as you I don't have the Beaumont Tiles Selection sheet anymore, but was does it say is the maximum size for tiles on that? I would be taking it further if I was you. I have questioned my CSC about a few things and been right, so she has done a back flip. Too bad so sad if the tiler doesn't want to do it. If they haven't updated their selection sheet that isn't your problem. If they haven't updated their selection sheet that isn't your problem. Their selection sheet says 300x300 is standard and max shower floor is 340x340 (cant say i have ever seen a tile that size) Which basically drastically limits what floor tiles you can use because there is a lot more bigger ones than there is smaller ones. So they will say oh yes this is silver but doesn't come in a 300x300 so you can't put it on your shower floor. Then I picked wall tiles I liked..but their matching floor tile is only 400x400 so can't use it because they won't let me put it on the shower floor...grrrr. We have started construction. We were told the slab was supposed to go down Monday this week, but it finally went down today! Feels good to finally have action on site! Started to get nervous about all of our choices now. Hope everything turns out ok How is everything going for you? Did you sort out your tile issue? Will be good to get some frames and get more of an idea of spaces. Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Slabbed! 58Nov 15, 2014 3:16 pm Conslabulations!!! I have heard everyone say their slab looks small even when building a massive house. Will look better when frames go up. We had to re-choose our tiles.. All done now. We are STILL waiting for land registration..was supposed to be September.. now we are looking right around Christmas time which means we can't settle until after xmas... its just dragging further and further out.. annoying because the land is complete and just sitting there.. ho hum Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Slabbed! 59Nov 15, 2014 6:21 pm [quote="1st time builders"]Conslabulations!!! Have the developers advised what the hold up is? This building caper sure does test ones patience! Our land registered about 3 months later than it was supposed, but I was changing jobs at the time so it actually worked out better for us. Hope the repicking of your tiles wasn't too painful for you! Re: Our Clarendon Ashley 35 Build in SE QLD - Slabbed! 60Nov 17, 2014 6:55 pm Well no work will be happening on site this week. Apparently they are having trouble finding trades, so no frames until next Monday. 9 19162 Thanks NativeZen! I can't wait to start landscaping, though it's going to be a while away yet. No movement on site yet as of the weekend. Hoping to see some earthworks… 3 2148 the stair balustrades? There is nothing special about these and I imagine literally every stair installer will be able to do this. 1 3132 |
