Windows - Aluminium 'Stone Biege' (quite close to Paperbark in colour) Front Door - Jasper Garage Door- Paperbark Really ******* mock-up below. The small front window is due to that room being a home office and facing west, and my partner not wanting to cook like he does in his current home office- I will be 'balancing' this side of the house some some kind of clever front garden landscaping that I haven't yet worked out... The bricks ended up FAR too dark in photoshop for some reason, the photo above is a better representation. I want the house to look simple and uncluttered, but not monotone, so I didn't want to just use Paperbark all over. The idea is that the recycled timber beam should be the main architectural feature of the front facade. My other half LOVES the Jasper colour but I want to be sure it won't look wierd. Also, what colour would be best for downpipes- Paperbark? Thanks heaps! Re: External Colour Advice needed 2Jun 05, 2008 12:50 pm I’m supposed to be working! I’ve done nothing so far!
I'll try and have a look at this later for you! Well done on your post with the colours and sketch, makes it so much easier. Fortunately, Colorbond have done a pretty good job with their range of colours, they all seem to work pretty well together
I think Jasper as a front door will nice as a "feature" without being too bold. Having the facia the same colour should tie the two together nicely was well. We;re doing a similar thing, but because ours is all greys, we've got a jasper garage door matching the jasper front door. It IS pretty dark though... which given the rest of your stuff is kinda light might be an issue. Our builders seem to LOVE Jasper... just about all the displays use it. I could be wrong, but this display in Mernda is Jasper and Paperbark Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Alan and Thuy in Melbourne Building a second time! Re: External Colour Advice needed 4Jun 05, 2008 1:28 pm Thanks Michelle, that would be lovely!
Toast, thanks! Beautiful colours on that display house I agree that the two colours look great together. It would totally be doable to change the garage to Jasper if that would help the house flow. Here is an also terrible mobile-phone picture my sister just sent me of the display centre bricks with my samples (roof, fascia and window frame). Although the photo is still bad and the mobile made it a bit blue, you get a better idea of the brick texture and the light speckling is visible Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: External Colour Advice needed 5Jun 05, 2008 5:52 pm Hi archaeobabe,
I love the colour Jasper, and think it would be more practical for your roof. We have it on the front door and gutters and the paperbark on the render around the front door and windows, (our roof is charcol). These colours work extremly well together. Paula Re: External Colour Advice needed 6Jun 05, 2008 6:58 pm Jasper is beautiful isn't it?
We really want to stick with a light coloured roof- they reflect more heat and we are not having air conditioning, so want to keep heat gain to a minimum. We we will have a heating system to compensate for the lack of winter heat gain. Dark roofs also add to the 'heat island effect' where built up areas have a much warmer micro-climate than surrounding areas due to all the buildings trapping the heat. Of course dark roofs have a benefit in winter, so it all depends on location, house design, heating and cooling systems etc., but for us and our lack of A/C I think that a light colour is the correct decision Re: External Colour Advice needed 7Jun 05, 2008 7:26 pm Archaeobabe…..looks great, I’m very happy with your selections.
The ones you have put in as unsure….go with, perfect! You’ve done well! I'm very pleased, I was hoping that the Jasper would be OK as it is such a lovely colour Re: External Colour Advice needed 9Jun 05, 2008 9:40 pm Have fun!!!
